Choose your plane and stick to it.
« on: June 03, 2009, 07:09:59 AM »
I am not aiming to tell anyone what to do but it occurs to me the real skill is choosing a plane and learn to fly it well. As in learn to work around its limitations and discover any hidden strenghts. Then exploit the assumptions others make about it to your advantage by surprising people.

I have chosen the spit 16 :rofl

(Actually I have decided to downgrade to the spit 8)

I choose the P-51 because everyone knows it can out turn, out run, and out fight every other plane of WW2 with very little effort!  :P

Maybe I am just too lazy to learn new planes, but I've mostly flown 109G-14 (G-10 before that) already for several years :)

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I have to wonder at the logic of ignoring the other 70 odd aircraft in favor of one.
Everyone has their favorites, certain birds lend themselves to specific styles, but one of the
quickest ways to learn an opponenets capabilities is to try driving one yourself.

Of course if I remember correctly, Yrables is one of those "fly historically!" guys
who wants Axis vrs Allies style arenas.

Agreed.  Much of the fun of AH is having all those nice aeroplanes to fly.

If I'm on for a couple of hours, I'm generally found in spit IX (I'm a spit dweeb, yeah I know ner)

If I'm on for a longer stint, I fly whatever takes my fancy at that particular moment in time - I'm really not worried what bird I die in  :D
