I believe there would have to be a way to code variable wind direction and speed into the maps.  If HTC can make day and night shift, one should be able to make a very educated guess that HTC could make the wind speed direction and speed shift as well.

I'd like to see SOME type of weather variation.  If we cant have rain, then a bit of wind would be nice.  Vary it from 5 to 10 mph and rotate it clockwise 45 degrees every 30min.

Obviously, some are going to complain that the wind gives the "other side" X benefits (X = speed).  But what many foget to grasp as that while a head wind may slow you down slightly, it offer a whole new realm of menouverability most have yet to experience (head winds = more lift = quicker turns, longer stall turns, taller loops, etc).   ;)

If there was weather, there should also be weather forecasts ;) It might actually be quite nice to sit in tower planning a bomber mission to an overcast target which would (possibly) clear by the time the planes got over it.

There ya go BlauK, thats what I'm talking about. So far almost no one has been able to see past the whol "oh no, I can't fly my fighter from that base" or "I can't fly any lower then (alt of storm)k" thing. They might be digging in their heels even because they don't want the ground pounders to have a turn, I just don't know. I think weather would make the game more fun as it will be more realistic. I think we should atleast have day and night in the regular arenas, It would allow the addition of specialised night fighters that would be out of place anywhere else.

I'm all for wind, at the same time can someone let me know where the windshield wiper controls are on my p51 for when it rains?

Seriously, darker clouds that make seeing each other at dot distance harder would be great. Up and down drafts are a great idea. I usually go high when on the way to a fight so that doesn't bother me. It gives me time to get a drink and get out of the chair for a few minutes. Precipitation back then meant it was time to play cards, catch a nap, and talk with the wingman a bit no?

Yes.....below the clouds. Once you get above the clouds then you can still fly, just start in an area where it isn't raining. Bombers did it and had escorts sometimes. But hey, I still say we shoud give the gv guys at least a chance to opperate without getting slaughtered from the air. Besides it would probably be pretty easy to remove if everyone hatted it.

Airspeed keeps the rain from collecting on the canopy too much.  Reason why you don't see too many aircraft with windshield wipers.

Aw, crap. I thought my bad luck was over. Aw MAN, that sucks!!! Well, any way I know my spelling can be horrendous, but as long as people can understand me then it doesn't REALLY matter all that much.

thats not how wind works... relative to the moving airmass, everything is the same.

the only thing affected is ground speed

Ground speed = Energy...

Those aircraft coming into a fight with a tailwind will end up having more energy at the same altitude due to having a higher ground speed.  However, if it shifts around from time-to-time, I see no issue with it, and I'd welcome it.

more energy relative to the ground.. not relative to the air, or other airplanes in the same air..  the airplane does not know or care it is flying in wind. it is a different frame of reference.
