Well, it may well be that the 335 at certain altitudes was the fastest prop fighter. I have a book with a alt vs speed chart of a 335 nightfighter version.
According to that chart, this version does 380+ at SL, with the external antennas. It was caluclated that the next model, with antennas integrated into the wings and thus no extra drag penalty, would do over 400 at SL. I think this would also be representative for the dayfighter version.
