How about this-

The whole "higher score/streak= better planes" thing would probably never work, but it would be worth a shot, imho.

Only, let's tweak it a little.  Only allow the 262/late war uber-ride to only one field per country.  If that field gets captured, then you're SOL.

Also, ultimatly denying the newbies the joy of any a/c would be bad.  How about this-

You have x number of sorties available to you in each plane when you log in.  Depending on your history as a high streaker/scorer, you get more or less time in each bird.  This way, no matter how bad you suck, you can at least try to hold your own in one of these monsters.  With a 51, you could easily rack up a nice streak, and earn yourself more time in it/other late war planes.

I think the economy idea as well as the various plane restriction idea all have a place -- in a separate specialized arena.

I know, currently AH doesn't have the tools nor player base to support specialized arena(s).  I'm hoping for the day when we have a terrain editor that supports programmable plane restrictions (among other outcomes) based on attaining strat objectives.

I literally only have only a few hours a month (~ $10/hr!!!) to fly and I'd love for that to be part of a structured, mission-oriented scenario.  Either that or a -toad- flight.  They're are always cool  .

The un-restricted main arena would always be there, but in a specialized arena we could try out these new ideas.  I know dreaming -- when I login to WB I prefer the HA but there's rarely anyone in there.

262 is a great runner, poor climber, poor
turner, poor roller, great puncher but with
few bullets and its range is anything but
long. It is a buff hunter. Anyone should be
able to evade it easily in any fighter. With
so little ammo and so tremendous aproaching
speeds, the average interception results
shouldn't exceed one of two bombers per
sortie (anyone can get more than two with
190 or F4UC). In fact, its 30mm guns implies
to shot from very short distances, risking a
lot the plane to defensive fire. IHMO, 262 is
not a super fighter, so, if included in AH,
why to limit its use? Yeah, it can outrun
anything, but actually P51D does that too.

Mandoble,
I mostly aggree with you, but for all its weaknesses here is what it can do.
Get to 30k nice and quick, get position an a hi buff easily, kill a buff with 1/5 of its ammo load. I think you underestimate what an advantage it is too be able to get into position for a nice run against a buff with impunity. I predict that this plane would quickly end the 4 bomber raids against the HQ that everyone trys and often work now..
I am not worried about it much with my fighter but bombers would be in real trouble.

Comment on all versions of very successful pilots get hot planes schemes. You guys really want to see tourqe in a Bearcat?
But I can just hear it now. "You dweeb you HO on me on my 19th vulch...begin long rant...recriminations....chan ge the system..blah blah blah

Or chute killing....wow could you imagine downing your 20th kill but bailing and a guy in a TA152 that had his buddys log on in another country and let him vulch them 20 times shootes your chute and starts taunting ya about it....

Only one that I have heard that makes good sense to me is getting 4 262s per tour. Ditches count as 1/2 a loss. So if I can get his crates back to base he can keep flying them.

When you see the same guy in a 262 day after day you know he is either letting his buddies die to save his ride or he is very good.

1 - Getting to 30k with a 262 could be a
hell. Climb rate is very poor and 262 in anything but a very high alt interceptor.
IMHO, the real hi buff killer will be the
Ta152 if it is modeled in the future.

2 - Agreed, 1/5 of its ammo is enough to kill
a buff, but aiming those 30mm is a very hard
task (try 30mm shots with a 190). You'll
need to be really close. Probably, if the
buff notices you before you get into firing
range, he will dispatch you easily with its
50 cal turrets (262 is a much larger target
than a 190).

IHMO, actually P51D with its range, speed, ammo load and zoom capability, is more uber
plane than 262. Perhaps we should limit the
number of P51s?
