They didn't make many, their tanks never really had an impact on the outcome.

If you model a decent early war light tank or Italian tank you'd have a good proxy for Japanese armor.  Unless the modeling could be done quickly and cheaply, I'd not waste any resources on armor for the Itais or the Japanese.  I think the Chi-Ha type 97 was their best tank that they made in any quantity and they made how many of those?  1,000? 2k, 3k?  Their later tank designs never made it since they had no steel to make them.  You could model either the Chi-Ha or one of the Fiat tanks and basically have a good enough proxy for all Japanese and Italian armor.  I don't know if they built 10,000 tanks that were used in warfare between them both.  As with aircraft, both nations did not have the resources to field the very finest designs quickly enough or in enough numbers to make a difference (that and a critical shortage of properly trained pilots on Japan's part).

I am thinking more along the lines does it meet AH qualifications for inclusion, not whether it had an effect on the outcome of the war or was it more powerful than such and such a tank.  I agree they were weak in comparison to other countries armor and made in much smaller production numbers.  Do they deserve inclusion into AH?  My answer is yes.

ZOMG THE CAPS!!!!

The hellcat wasn't an American tank eather. It was a tank destroyer.

That it was but in actuality it unlike the German and Russian tank destroyers had a turret and was under armored . Bringing in more EW era tanks doesn't make sense to me since their use across the arenas will be minimal.

As for early war any new tank like say the Panzer III would be welcome all we have is the T-34 there. As for general arena use how about the Hummel-Geschutwagen III self propelled artillery. As for tank busters maybe the Stag III 40 more  infantry support than tank killer or the Jagdpanzer IV a true tank buster. I myself would be most happy with a Panther. Trying to GV in any arena is a pain just because of the long spawn drives just to get a shot at another tank. So if we are going to have a miserable drive just to GV we may as well drive something sporty
to make the trip in.

Shoot, if we combine macer's (m4) & vlad's (wespe) request into 1 wish we could have the 105mm armed Sherman.  now that was easy (so where is the button?)

I like this one...town would go down quickly, but the ammo load out could be a problem.
Also the lack of a powered turret traverse would mean painfully slow turrets.

Agreed.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a suite of armor in this game.  I'd especially like a setup where modest armor could compete against each other and early war AC.  I'd personally not due it soon though since plane sets need so much fleshing out.  How many planes should be modeled for each new GV?  I'd say 5 to 1, AC to GV, maybe.

I'd have to say no to that. Yes i like the fact that it has 122mm cannon, but only 28 rounds. It be a tough debate to decide if that tank would be perked. So to save the time. I'd have to say no

I'm guessing the panther would come first
I'm wishing that the Panther would come now! :x
