Fabrika6,
if PYRO will model the G.55 you wont see any wing-gondolas armed Bf109G around (Humm, maybe only the G-10/R). Moreover, the G.55 ammo load is HUGE   (250+200+200 cannon rounds)

That's a pretty plane, but it was plagued by structural problems. The G55 and C205V were better planes overall IMHO.

I agree Kieren,
moreover, after official trials it has not been choosen neither from Regia Areonautica nor by Luftwaffe. It had also production problems.

Looks like they are all prototypes (1942 a/c that is, look at the armament). But the G.55's climb data match perfectly with those of the 1947 official manual (of a 3x20mm and 2x12,7mm armed G.55). IMHO, G.55's data are the only reliable.

Moreover Nino Arena (the author of the book: "I caccia della serie 5") is not considered a very reliable source in Italy. Too bad, becouse this is the only existing performance table of Series 5 fighters.

Would be nice to have the G.55 with 1°Gruppo Caccia "Asso di Bastoni" markings.

Gatt, Drago
I am really happy to read your polite debate.
Hope this to be the tomb stone of the past bad discussions.

Yes the table above show the prototipe data of the serie 5 pubblied by N.Arena.
The c205 is the Orione a modified c205V for better high altitude performance but only 2 (not sure if more) were build.
The Re2005 in these tests show a very big nunmber of problem (one was the well know tail structural problem).
The G55 was almost ok, only little problem.

The production serie of the 2 planes was "clear" of bug, in the Re2005 still some strange rumors on the fusolage but any damage was found in the operative aircraft.

G55 in ANR was used in big nunbers with the 2nd Gruppo Caccia, only a few nunbers was used by the 1st Gruppo Caccia and the one they used were "proprety" of the 2nd Gruppo.

Sgt. Major A. Vezzani the pilot of the real 1st Gruppo Caccia that we have the pleasure to know flew whit both c205V and G55.
He was impressed of the stability and the performance of the G55 at high altitude, he say: "was an easy plane to fly, whit very good stability and manouvrability even though he was slower than the c205V"

PS: about Nino Arena, Gatt i know that, i have found a book writen from N.Arena that say A. Vezzani downed 4 planes (spits-B17,ecc. ).
When i have meet Vezzani he told me that he downed only 2 planes 1 B-24 and 1 P-38.

Lets have the G55 in ANR markings, as It was a later war fighter, and was used by the Italian Pilots who decide to stay on the Axis side in WW2, so far NO FLIGHT SIM anywhere in the world has honoured them by modeling a fighter in their colours,
