Good Job Allies
« on: July 25, 2009, 08:56:35 AM »
Good Job to all Allied squads last night.
I had reports of C16,28,31 and 40 being sunk.
Also of 18,30 and 41 being badly damaged and just needing an extra dudge to put them under.
Also good job to all letting us know what was going on.  :aok
Time to retire these bullet ridden planes and take up some new ones for the next round.

Hitting only 5 guns on CV 41 makes it badly damaged...hummm!  The Claim Jumpers did great defending her and took heavy losses by the 68th Lighting Lancers!  68KO would be proud.  <S>  Flifast

The AKs took down our assigned CV in grids 6-11 and 7-11. I still dont know the CV number that was assigned to that area. Anyone know?

FSO was just atrocious last night. It was an utter slaughter for us (Jokers) in the TBMs. Escorts were nonexistent and we were torn apart by A6Ms.

Speaking on a purely selfish note here, the commanders should have thought twice about sticking Jokers Jokers in TBMs (or bombers in the future) when we would have been much more useful in F6Fs.  Very poorly planned by the CiCs IMO.

You wouldn't be saying that because we asked your status after being a no show last week?  :cry
In that frame the pilots you were supposed to assist in the attack were left hanging so please don't complain about support.
There were 12 escorts assigned to support your squad based on frame 2 participation. I don't know how many actually showed.
We understand not liking an assignment but consider we had to put a credible force on 10 targets.  I don't remember the last time so many had to be attacked.
We don't like flying bombers either but we sucked it up and assigned 10 of our pilots in SBD's Our escort was smaller yet at 5 and we had a great time.

JG2 enjoyed flying SBD's to C40 where several of us got in to drop our ord and sink that Jap tincan.

Big  :salute to the Swampdragons and Nightmares VMF-101.  We paid dearly for our attack on their sacred ships.  Only our fishnetted leader, Chappy, escaped your wrath.

Enjoyed all three frames.

Doesnt matter what squad is good in....sometimes you get crap rides. If not some of the less experienced squads get crap rides every time. Which is not fair to them....its not all about winning.

Speaking purely selfishly here but you could have volunteered to CiC the frame  :salute

Sounds to me like they should stick you into bombers repeatedly and often, so your squad can improve your bombing skills to a point where you will become useful in whatever role you are asked to play rather then allow you to tantrum your way into getting what you want because you want it.

It happens from time to time.  I do remember 353rd given b-25s in one event.  We had to attack a IJ CV with out escort.  We found the cv and sank it at the same time slaughter.  out of 15 of us only one made it home.

Our bombing skills are fine, thanks.

The trouble is, we didn't get to bloody USE them because we were intercepted about 10 miles out from our own CV, WITHOUT any meaningful escort.

Neither. Just viewing my opinion on the way FSO went down last night.

Yes, I must admit that our participation has not been the best over the past couple of frames.

However, whenever we do get a decent showing, rubbish things like this happen and it kills any interest whatsoever in flying in future events. That is an issue that is not limited to our squad.
