Stuttering all gone for me after latest patch, but did experience 1 hard lockup after 6 hours of play. I also experienced a lost udp switching connection to tcp, and in which another message popped up informing me of the expanded terrain graphics was being removed, ( btw graphics was misspelled in this message, no biggie ). I feel this occurred because I was tweaking the expanded terrains to full to see how much I could run, while in the middle of a lot of action. Other than having to run without having additional skins on, or self shadowing on a much better experience overall. In case you need my spec's I will post my DXDIAG again here. On video card everything is set to application controlled and set for high performance. Within the game I have a small amount of AA enabled, resolution set at 1280 X 1024 and 512 Max textures. And by the way I am not running in compatablity mode, both cores seem to be doing just fine in the game.

Much Much better than before, but the stutters are still there. So whatever direction you're headed towards the fix, keep going.  :aok

Still suffering from stutters after the update as well.

Update:  With patch 3, updating my ATI card to the latest Catalyst 9.7 drivers fixed the problem of the stutters and corrupted local reflection graphics.  If you're still experiencing stutters and/or local reflections is corrupted, try updating your video drivers to the most recent version.  You should also see a frame rate increase as well.

I've gotten my rig within acceptable standards again, through trial and error.  (850 mHZ AMD processor (overclocked), Nvidia 8600 card (Overclocked) 750 Watt power supply, 2 gigs RAM)

#1.  Defrag twice after the initial download and re-installation of the game.
I don't know why, but my entire HTC folder was fragmented after installation, around 1500 frags first defrag, 100 on the second, zero on the third.  I've never had this issue from previous upgrades or patches, but this was a complete rewrite of the game, so that makes sense.

#2. Drivers
My stutters in game seemed to be most directly a  result of my AUDIO card drivers.  I specifically had a creative labs FATALITY soundcard. Erase old drivers FIRST, then download and install the newer ones.  This only happened since the new update, and wasn't an issue prior.

#3.  Process Management
If you haven't downloaded "Gamebooster"(http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html) I highly recommend it.  It will disable all the processes not needed to run AH2 and transfer that usage to the program, making it faster.  It's free and enables game mode and normal mode at the touch of a button.... very user friendly.

I've currently got my 10 year old rig running stable at 45-50 FPS average (75 high end) in all but the most packed areas, where it drops into the 30's, without all the eye candy.  Eye Candy takes me down into the low 20's in FR, but I didn't even want the eye candy in the first place.  All the beotching from you guys, and it just takes a couple hours to get a crappy rig running to acceptable standards to kill.

Hope this helps someone in need.

go to start  >>> run >>> type dxdiag >>> click display tab at the top >>>>  driver date / version is in the top right.

I tried to load beta got a big blue screen,  got latest drivers everything runs fine.  This is one of the FIRST things you guys need to check.

Latest version seems to have eliminated the majority of the stuttering for me.

When i first ran the game with patch 4, i was still getting major stutters, but i did a defrag, then changed the video settings and that seemed to fix it.

So far i'm running 512 texture with the sliders pegged to the left, and i only get very minor stutters every few minutes as opposed to major stutters every few seconds.

I'll try it with the hi-res later on and see if it's my computer that's holding me back.

Thanks for the fix.  :aok
