Exactly. A tiger sitting on base can just sit there, without much need to move back and forth to cove different approach routes.
Overall less maneuvering. More long-range slugfests. Much less chances for T34s to get close enough. Some of the best fights I ever had were prolonged battles with much guesswork, shoot & scoot, repositioning using hills, woods & hedges vs incoming superior numbers. By using cover as well as lots of maneuvering I was bale to hold of a hurge force for along time.
The woods are gone.
The hills are gone.
Goodbye M8 & T34, welcome back Mr Tiger.
Numbers will rule again.
It's simply much less tactical options.
I was tempted to pick apart your argument with hypothetical scenario's but your an intelligent chap and can envisage those for yourself. I feel the crook's of the matter is 2 fold. 1) fighting styles 2) Terrain.
There have always been defenders who just sit there waiting. Fewer take the initiative to push forward and engaged off the base and push the attackers back to the spawn.
The terrain isn't as sparse as you may think. Those groups of tree's especially European style, are stepping stones for any would be attacker or indeed aggressive defender. This is why I feel the new tarrains would lend themselves to a more fluid fight.
I don't doubt that in certain scenarios of defence your point is valid which in reference to my point about "would be campers" is complementary to my point. There is less of an opportunity for a VH camper to make his objective from the usual radar side group of tree's. Yes! they can camp the VH from it's 7 O'clock as they used to before the hedges were introduced but the terrain isn't as dense now. Should such a camper make this position through lack of diligence on the part of the defender, a base jumping (need I say more?) T34 fast turret crack shot should be able to deal with that.
Once again I'll state my opinion on spawn point campers. Yes it will continue but they will be easier to spot. Less mounds of earth to sit behind. Sparser tree cover. Less high ground. Classic example Baltic V3 to A4. Little to no cover at V3's spawn into A4 from the level ground with that spawn. The high hill is a good vantage point to camp from but there is no cover. It's a 16 to 24.5 distance shot but once the attacker is on the move then your work begins.
Anyways....gased on to much. Time will tell
