Here are a few shots of Thing's new system.  It runs the update of AH at max frame rate for the monitor refresh rate of 60.  This is with everything turned on max except "Object Self Shadow" turned off.  When on the FR drops to mid to high 40's constant.  The system's 3Dmark06 (@4.05GHz 35% Overclock) score is 16614

Specs:
Case: NZXT Tempest
MB: EVGA 790i SLI FTW
CPU: Intel E8400 3.0GHz running between stock and 4.05GHz (35% OC)
HSF: OCZ Vendetta 2
Mem: OCZ Reaper DDR3 1800MHz 2 x 2gb
Video: EVGA GTX 260
PSU: OCZ 850watt
HD: WD 640gb 32meg cache

The temps are well within the acceptable range.  I am showing the temps on all 3 profile settings.


This shows the overall tuning of the system with temps, FSB, CPU and Mem settings.  After running OCCT for 4 hours the temps at the 4.05GHz OC were warm but not anything to worry about.


Cable Management what else can I say here.

The lower the better, but what your looking for is a CPU to pass a continuous 99 to 100% CPU usage without over heating.  Is just under 50 if the system is at idle and is not overclocked, no thats a little high.  Is under 50 under 100^ load for several minutes good, yes it is.  It all depends, CPU type (some run hotter then others), voltage going to CPU, whats the FSB, what MHz is your memory at, how much airflow does your case have etc.  All factors to take into consideration when looking at temperatures over all.

The HSF looks pretty cool (forgive the pun). Any other reason you chose that particular unit? I know my Zalman was a bear to install once you had the mb in the case.

It is about the best out there to cool a CPU on air.  It was the editors choice for 2008 and HSF of the year from Benchmark Reviews, IT was again in the 1st quarter of this year.  I like the way they benchmark HSF's.  They start out with the Stock fan and do 3 plus installs on the MG to get an Average, they also compare 10+ untis at the same time using this method, Then they use the same fan on all units so the playing field is equal again doing more then one mounting get an average and line them up.  They also do this with a case that is in its operating position and laying on it side so there is no pressure pulling the HS away from the processor.

About 3 hours from taking the case out of the box to stripping it to Booting to Desktop.  The H2O system is about 4 hours average.  The one I have posted to a little longer.  Cutting through 5/32nds solid aluminum is slow, the harder part was going through the heavier cooling fins which was 66% of the top that needed cut out.  I can put systems together that have cable management but not to this extreme in about 1 hour to Desktop.
