I dug this thread up and brushed it off having done a few searches for my 13th TAS, B-Land squad-mates from Air Warrior.  :x

I tracked them into Warbirds years ago and now I guess some are still flying here.

Major YBJAFO, now retired, 13th TAS Strike Wing, Air Warrior

Recently back to AH, but fondly remember 13TAS from AW as well.

Speedster (still remember my ID numbers from playing AW on GENIE and then DELPHI)

Never had a 'tail number' myself. Started in with AWIII. Maybe the older Air Warriors would be kind enough to anoint me with one? Start them (the tail numbers) out where they left off? After all, I'm an 'old soul' and my heart's in the right place.  If I could manage to have either a 69 or 007 in mine that would be nice. :D

You mention the A-26 ... and I can still remember an afternoon in a Ju 88 in the Euro map annoying the hell out of A-landers by dropping them out of the sky using this lead-sponge beast.

I loved the vader. Almost as much as the YAK. Using the flaps in a loop to get it to lurch forward out turn fighting turnfighters.

And I remember one flight ruining an entire mission. I was dicing in to lay waste to the feild when a mission suddenly appeared on the runway and let loose with my eggs on that instead. Got 11 kills

Yeah I still miss Air Warrior and to this day won't touch anything by EA.

I remember right after it went down they threatened to throw me off the AW boards for saying I hoped EA's exec families all contracted an incurable form of syphilis.

I was like "And that is suppossed to scare me why?? The game is gone. What excactly is it you think you are booting me from?."

I remember JBKidd, 8bird, Bamma, 7lobo, LPN, just to name a few that always gave me good fights.
Most flew in RR Pac2, although I know JB flew in the FR Pac arena.

There were a bunch.  The ones I remember fighting a lot waaaaaaaay back when were Airmigan, Wild Thing, and BushWhacker.  There was also HiTech -- whatever became of that guy?

:rofl  To think we were warned what would happen by the Janes players as their game was also bought and subsequently closed down by EA.  Like everyone else, I didn't want to believe it at the time but they were proved correct.  :(

Played that for a long time offline before I eventually found WarBirds and went MMO. I love when you get talking to someone who says they've been flying sims 'since the old days', and they have no idea what AirWarrior is. Or Chuck Yeager's Air Combat for that matter...

I've been in 'em since abou 1997 (when i got my first computer), but my brother in law, who says he's been flying them 'forever', didn't actually get started until about 2005 and has never flown any of the WWII MMO ones.  :O

Never flown WWII MMO!???  Ye gods.  Do you tell him that, with regard to flight simulation, he's the equivalent of a wet-behind-the-ears sissy who does not deserve your sister's hand in marriage? ;)  Do you tell him what he's missing?  Do you tell him that's like someone saying, "Yeah, I'm quite a car buff" when he has never driven anything but a Ford Pinto?

Sadly it's my wife's brother, so I'm stuck with him. Both he and his father are 'avid flight simmers' who've never done anything more than flying around in circles in FSX.

I Had to prove to them once that the P-51 they'd bought wasn't broken and was, indeed, possible to take off successfully. I then flew it the hell out of it for about twenty minutes before landing and logging out while they just stared open mouthed. My only jab was 'If you can only fly jets, you can't really fly.'

There is one other angle.

I know two folks (my Dad and a friend at work) who regularly fly scenarios as bomber pilots and love it.  You can get up to speed a lot faster in bombers, and they are less hectic to fly than fighters.  Folks who fly jets in Flight Simulator, practicing navigation and such, might be more inclined to like bombers.

You could try introducing them to that?

(I cannot fathom people who like airplanes or flight simulators but don't love Aces High.)
