I don't see how a WWI arena will hurt or even affect the MAs. HTC has said they are using it to test the new DM. That's a + for WWII. It gives those intersted another choice on where and what to fly, it oesnt take away any options for WWII. No ground war, WWII gets to keep that (ok not a + lol) I don't see a problem, maybe WWII will not get as many new planes for awhile but how many are there already? I know there's several holes in plane set for special events but really the holes have been there I don't see them filling up any sooner without the WWI arena. Ice your taints fellas, we re not goin to lose anything

I remember the wire frame Red baron game from years ago, it was fun. I am unable tofind any "list of equipment " for the WW1 arena. Does anyone know what else will be included? Are parachutes ruled out? Is it 2 air bases with trench inbetween?? Are the GV's horse drawn???  Are bombers Zepplins?? could be fun eh??

There will be four(I think someone said?) bases and four fighters (Fokker DR I, Fokker D VII, Sopwith Camel, and Bristol F2.B).
According to the front page this will be a dogfight arena, and at least right now there are no GV's or bombers announced.

Thats the cool thing Chief, you can just ignore the WWI arena, and log into the LW arenas as usual without bothering. Nice to have choices eh?

That is........unless the arena levels aren't correct.  Can't get into LW1 or LW2 because of numbers........BUT WAIT!! you now have the option of going to WWI arena.  Whether you like it OR NOT!

Don't have one problem with bringing in WWI arena.  I WILL however, if I'm FORCED to fly WWI because the numbers dictate it.  Don't know if that's where it will lead to.........just saying.

Only the two Late War Arenas are tied together with dynamic caps- you'll always be able to get into one or the other.

Here's hoping.  No bad mouthing, no trolling.  What I see is so many years ago......another company spreading it's wings in effort to fulfill everyone's hopes, and needs, by engaging several areas of winged combat to include, WWII, WWI, and Korea........and then failing completey and going away........"Air Warriers".  Just don't want to see my beloved HTC to travel the same route.

Here's hoping HTC's WWI goes well.

Rokit,

The biggest difference here is that Kesmai was corporate controlled and airplanes were mandated by management that wasn't connected to the product. HTC is controlled by HTC and will do what they think best for their customers.

I don't recall Kesmai being corporate controlled until it went to AOL. but if I remember correctly the WWI and Korean arena's were always there in AW.

It doesn't matter really because that sim was so long ago and computers and software have come so far that comparisons to it are really moot.

Shuffler cited CT when I said HTC tries to do it right, I think he proved my point.  HTC worked on that project hard and long and in the end decided it wasn't for prime time and had the nads to tell the community that it didn't work, it doesn't get any better than that from a game company as far as being up front with their customers is concerned.

WWI has been around along time as a computer game I doubt there are very many of us my age who didn't play RB and it was my first online game as well on TSN, so it is not that it doesn't have followers it does and if they come here to play and it increases revenue it is good for all of us.

They had been owned by News Corp for many years before AOL came around.

As for CT Box, my point there is that for about a year everything went stagnant.

Well the game survived quite well during that period and if they spend a year on just WWI, I think the base game would do just fine.  I don't think they will dedicate a year to WWI as I think Hitech or Pyro said they have most of it "in the can", Waffle may get some overtime doing his "magic" on the 3d models and the new DM will get some attention for sure but then again the DM is for all aspects of AHII

I don't think WWI is going to be a big project. From what we have heard/read it looks to be a small arena with a couple of fields no more that 5 miles apart. It will start with a base of 4 planes maybe adding a few more down the road should the arena become popular. Also it will be used as a test bed for other improvements to the game... first is the new damage model. This is a great idea, as we all know should HTC add the new damage model directly to the mains the out cries they will hear if it is not "perfect" shall be deafening  :D

I doubt there will be much in this new arena seeing it looks like its to be kept small so terrains will not be a big deal. I doubt bombers nor GV's will be added as it seems like it to be a WWI furball arena much like all those "old guys" remember that type of fighting to be. To many people are reading too much into this. Most of the work is already done, thats why even HTC said we will have it soon.

Relax !
