HOHO!! we need a DXDIAG, make sure you haven't installed any programs or have anything running in the background that could make the game work slower. This happens when my anti-virus updates automatically or a program pops up. As always this could be a possible virus, scan your computer several times with different settings.

DXDIAG> START> RUN> DXDIAG> SAVE> Find file and post. ty

:huh A lot of wierd problems popping up for people...I have a "middle of the road" system by geek standards yet the only thing I've experienced is the occasional white screen o'death issue...but then I've tweaked my system to the point where I'm getting a steady 74-75 fps and with the new update around 125 megs of video memory used...just like it should be.

Since the update this week, getting white screen of death on average 1-2 times per hour.  Never had it before until this latest update (Tues).

Hmmm... Half the time mine displays 0 vid memory but does display vid memory used.  I have two ATI 3870 sapphire 512mb running in crossfire mode.  Part of the time it displays 512mb of vid memory and this has been consistant throughout the 2.14 series of patches.

All the Best...

Awdoc, does your mouse lock up on start up screen? If so go to video settings and press ok. This solved the 0.0 vidmem thing for me.

What issues are you experiencing?  Low frame rates?

Have you tried updating your graphics card drivers?

Old CPU and old vid card. Same deal I had (except your RAM is good. Mine was less)

Turn everything off or down to it's lowest level. That's in the Graphics Settings in the intitial "splash" screen when the game starts and then Options, Graphic Details and turn it off or down, click Advanced and turn all that stuff off.

All you can hope for is some benevolent soul to give or sell an old, better vid card. The CPU upgrade is tougher. It'll probably need a new motherboard and those ain't cheap.

Best of luck.

What Blooz said.

1)  Make sure the "Maximum Texture Size" is set to 256, no higher, in the "Video Settings".
2)  Make sure the anti-alias slider is set to off (all the way left).
3)  In the game, make sure the only "Options->Graphic Detail->Advanced" option checked is "Bump Map Terrain".

See if that helps.

Thanks Everyone for all the advice!!!!!!!! I did try everything you all suggested and plus I turned off "nortons"....... It worked much better today.. frame rates 35-45 and 76meg out of 128 used. occasional minor screen freezes but overall much better.

THANKS
