The discussion'll be completely uncensored and the game will be better off from it.

as opposed to "for it"...

I sort of wonder why we're still discussing this. Did anyone say, "yeah, I like Country channel for spouting like a swollen raging sphincter that can no longer hold back a torrent of pixel diarrhea" ?

Just to make it clear again. I wasn't talking about 200

But about the non-detunable country channel

I agree.  It got so bad yesterday that several people including myself was asking that it cease (to no avail).  So I just started squelching those involved.  Then while on Squad Channel, a long winded political discussion began and went on to such extent that nothing could be heard on range channel (tactical information re location of enemy  etc) so I just said that I was leaving the squad channel.  Afterwhich, I had a Squaddie (yep a Squaddie) question my loyalty to the troops by asking me if I had ever been to Iraq.  Notwithstanding that my comment was only meant to indicate that I was leaving the squad channel so that I could hear the range channel, this squad member presupposed that I was being critical of troops in Iraq.  Aces High is a hobby for me and I play the game for the fun and entertainment that it provides; and even though I have always remained silent when the political issues were being discussed and just squelched them without ever asking that such conversations cease, I did not appreciate the insinuation that I was being critical of troops in Iraq.  Especially, since I spent 21 years in the Military, beginning with Nam.  I do not need to be in Iraq to know what our troops are experiencing and certainly do not need to here this on a game played for its recreational and entertainment value.

It's better than that. Go back to my complaint with Lusche. Irony is not lost on me.  :P

Or, a better response would be:

of course not, though doubtless some ideologues, practicing the tired old us-versus-them ways of the past, might characterize my post as such. I'd really expect, though, that the vast bulk of the AHII clientele are enlightened and educated enough to move beyond that... (and accept what I say as self-evident truth and completely objective and apolitical).

Except Lusche, of course, who secretly wants to throw your grandmother out in the snow-covered streets.
(apologies, Lusche, but Dr. Goebbels needs his villain - anyone else would do - substitute Shuffler and the rest of the P-38 pilots here, if so inclined).

I move we close this thread. It's completely exhausted.

Agreed: Country channel abusers should be hunted down and immersed in a bathtub full of chimichanga hot salsa feces.

"abuse" constitutes any speech anti-Knight or anywhere left of Attila the Hun on the political spectrum, excepting bestiality or chick-on-chick stuff...

Skuzzy,

Please simply forward the idea of "turning off" all radio channels, country and local included, to those that may decide upon it.

It seems every day I log on, it's there...politics/religion/evolution....  It impacts my enjoyment of the game, and gives me another reason not to renew each month.  Many on both sides just can't let it go, and the discussions proceed directly under your MOD's noses, who are too preoccupied with muting someone who types "p-o-o-p".

As it were, this thread is already devolving into ideology.

I feel Lusche's request is a valid and important one.

This will never happen, and for a good reason.

Hitech has shown in the past that the "community" aspect of this game is really a very important consideration. He want people getting into contact with each other, not a fully anonymous environment.
Some of you may remember that this was one of his main arguments for the Arena Split: In his opinion player numbers were simply getting too big to allow for real interaction & communication. Also the squad size limit of 32 was imposed for similar reasons.

So I doubt we will ever have the option to block every & all communication.
