Would it be rude to ask how much it would cost to have one of those assembled?

Whether rude or not, TD cannot post any pricing information on the board.

How about in PM?

Death can you send a roundhouse figure in PM?

Does that system qualify as a "screamer"?

At what point does the system go beyond what you feel comfortable with from a warranty viewpoint and what type is offered? To me I think that is my biggest area of concern as a potential customer. As I've stated the build is realtively easy ("pretty" is a bit harder) but to get that type of stable systemic performance takes time, knowledge and a bit of mojo.

So if "consumerX" fires that badboy up and dials up maximum warp speed what are the realities? At some point is normally goes beyond what is considered a stable sustainable build...or is the 3.8 (or above) viewed as a "sustainable everyday speed"? Certainly some impressive #'s regardless...

that looks like a nice build there, TilDeath........

sorry for the slight Hijack of your thread:  here's my question/concern

currently I am just using cheese cloth 1/2 arsed taped in places to hold it over the inlet fans

I have a few questions for ya....... I was under the impression ( maybe I read it on the NZXT cases website perhaps ), that these cases / case fans came with filters or prefilters?  yet I do not see any in this picture you posted......

I have an Antec 900 case with the following fans:
front panel= (2) 120 mm fans
back panel= (1) 120 mm fan
Top panel= (1) 200mm fan
Side Clear Panel= (1) 120mm fan  ( I had posted somewhere early on these boards and posted the wrong size for my top and side fan sizes )

I have drawn up my case & fan housings/panels to try and figure/design my own little Filter rack system for all these fans.

* I wanted to take my dremel tool and saw/cut a groove/slot in the Plastic bezels on the front to build and slide a Flexible Filter rack assembly in front of the front panel fans

* for the clear side panel & rear panel fan, I have tinkered with making clamp on / snap on Filter racks for these (2) 120 mm fans ( these were quiet easy to make )

* for the Top 200mm Fan, I have run into a dilemma trying to figure a way to make or build a Filter rack that is both easy to initially install, then easy to access without having to pull out all the components/ CPU & Heatsink-Fan/MB

I have taken and sealed up all leaks/crevices that potential dirt & dust could be pulled/sucked thru into the PC Case. If I have managed to get it airtight then I prob would not need to make a filter rack for the top 200 mm fan because it discharges Air out of the case, same as the rear panel 120mm fan does..

do you have any hints or tips you can offer for this particular situation?

I am currently using Cheese Cloth, it is dense enough to capture the fine particles of dust yet breathable to not really restrict the airflow......using anything less than a fine ( dense ) foam filter ( this type is very restrictive on airflow ) would not benefit on keeping the dirt & dust out.......

this case ( and fans ) moves an enormous amount of Air which relates to moving enormous amounts of dust particles ( most you would not see with the human eye, unless you was seeing the particles when say Sunlight is shining thru a window.....

Here is an idea, instead of the the cheesecloth go to http://www.mcmaster.com/#2122k311/=39gu9e  and order some of this:
 2122K311

Polyester Air Filter Roll Tackified, 1/2" Thick, 8" Wide, 15' Long

$4.97 per Roll

It sounds like you are trying to filter the exhaust air on the inside of your case.  I find this to be a bit odd.  Any dust particles that get through the filter material should be allowed to leave the case.  A simple rack can be made from some sheet metal that can be found at Home Depot.  I've been a sheet metal fabricator for 15 years so I can picture it in my head and think each one would take 5 min or less to build and rivet to the case.  Cut some 4 x 4 squares out of the material above and it should last a long time.

thanks for your suggestions, but I find Residential to Industrial Polyglass filter media to be too coarse to pick up the fine dust particles that is most comon in computer cases... and using pleated type filter media is way too dense that it affects the airflow performance of the fans making the amp draw go up , power consumption increase and will eventually burn up the fan motors

only reason I thought of possibly covering the outlet fans ( exhaust ) is to keep the fan blades clean on the edges.....

I myself have been in the HVAC industry for over 23 years working from your basic Residential home to doing Casino's and Military bases  to Hospitals and "Clean Rooms"......even started out as a full fledged tin binder myself..... until my injurys overtime have moved me out of the field/shop because of the physical limitations.........nowadays I am more computer/software/consultant bound ( for last 12 or 13 years anyhows..... )( well actually I am waiting on my disability to come thru to be honest )

*HAZMAT 1st Response Team

Cheese cloth in 2 layers max will be what I build my filter rack around....... just was curious as to what TilDeath thought, since his line of work is computers......

back in 95 thru 2000 I had the pleasure of building cooling systems for AT&T's plant and redesigning the cooling needs of the DOT traffic camera stations ( was like 46 computers 93 32" Or bigger monitors ) and keeping the equipment room at a constant 68 degrees 365days a year 24/7 for NC ( did 3 of these DOT buildings this way )....... filtering was always an issue, except we built what some might know as " Clean Rooms "

fan grills are the easiest way to add a filter to a filter less fan.  They are inexpensive and made to size.  Place the filter material on the grill, place the grill between the fan and its mount and your good to go.  If there are gaps around the fan, balsa wood soaked in water over night or thin rubber (foam or pliable).

As for the top fan... yikes.  A case mod comes to mind, making the top panel into 3 sections (rear, fan area, forward).  Raise it a half inch, makes the sides out of sheet balsa covered in automotive fiberglass and painted and attached to the "fan area".  Make a slide system for your filter with the height you gained by raising it.

[EDIT] BTW I think this is your rig I found on googling Antec 900 on Google images from Overclock.net, Skeletor?  Nice work young man  :salute
