Ya I kinda figured it wouldnt work.... unlike what the previous poster suggested...... boards are not defaulted to PS/2 off......... however, many are defaulted to USB off......... you need to get into BIOS to enable support for your USB keyboard.... unfortunately you cannot do that without a functioning PS/2 keyboard.........

IMO you have a bad mobo and should try to RMA it :(

In the last 5 years there has yet to be a single mobo manufacturer default the bios to have USB turned off, especially with built in USB ports...booting to a USB bootable device has been disabled out of the box...

If the USB ports and the PS2 ports are none responsive to keyboard input...as batch recommends, RMA that mobo. It's better to be safe than sorry.

RTFM.

The shield shows them in the incorrect position - if they are color coded differently in the connectors (which we can't see) he should review the manual for the correct position.  It's much less likely to be incorrect than either the color coding or the shield stamping.

Too late Ghastly he already took the incorrect colors into consideration...

I have them in according to the color code and symbol.
I swapped them after the multiple reboot attempts, thinking maybe internally they were reversed but same result.
