Vox freeze
« on: September 05, 2009, 12:17:09 PM »
Been getting a huge (couple seconds maybe) freeze when using VOX for the first time lately. Subsequent uses of the transmit keys don't freeze the game.

Since you only have 512mb of physical RAM, I'd guess that you're getting a 2 second pause when you first use Vox because windows is short of free physical RAM and proceeds to swap out some stuff that's in RAM to the hard disk page file (virtual ram) to make room for some audio routines in physical RAM. So the second time you use Vox, windows is prepared and no time consuming ram/disk swapping is needed.

Blooz it looks from your DXdiag that you are running onboard sound.

From your dxdiag window click on the sound tab and set your hardware acceleration to the left one notch. You should be running that at the 3/4 mark and not full acceleration.

May help, and won't hurt.

Also, I echo Hepcat. You really need more Ram

Reduce acceleration. Worth a try.

I'd like more RAM but my BIOS won't recognize more than 512.
