Best captures?
« on: September 15, 2009, 09:28:41 PM »
Hey all. I just want to know what your best capture ever was. Be it with fighters all over the place, sneaking the goon in, or just dropping the troops a long way out and distract the tanks with your m3.

My best capture ever was a while back. I sneaked my goon into a de-acked port, cut my engine and glided her in. I landed nicely and rolled right on top of the map room, and let the boys run. A successful capture, all while a wirblewind was 400 feet from me looking the other direction  :lol

I once had one of my wings tips shot off flying low in a goon. I was able to drop the gear before crashing but my other wing hit a tree leaving me with my wings cut down to the engines. I actually drove the goon about 2k to the town for the cap. Wish I had it recorded but it was before I started using auto record.

WMPac77 was in an M3 and I was in a 110 hovering over the field.  We thought we would make a valiant effort at taking V67.  Pac was driving his m3 from the A7 spawn and doing his best not to be found.  I was circling overhead in my 110 with a couple bombs.  I saw Pac was about 400 yards from a Panzer, I dropped my first 500 kg on him.  Pac drove way to the north of the field as I was circling above to distract the three Wirbles on the field.  Pac started to roll towards the map room and one of the flackers headed that way as well.  I had to drop on him, there goes my last bomb.  I was sure we were toast at this point but none of the other flackers decided they needed to move.  Pac drove right up to the map room with vehicles on the field.  We had a great time running it.  Sneaking a defended field is awesome.

.

mine was watching a rook team milk mid war 5 against no bish and only me as a knight. I saw vh base flashing in bish land. seeing no bish on i drove my m3 to base waited for the 3 acks to die and when the rook bailed out to grab m3. I drove my m3 to maproom and took the base and got 15 kills defending it.:)

Most memorable for me was with Bruv and Connery - Connery took a fighter, Bruv went over town in a group of lancs, whilst I took a 110 to finish off what he couldnt kill - finished with 1 building up, Connery on the outskirts with troops, and Bruv in a fighter engaging all and sundry that came up.

Flew over town, killed the last building, headed out to sea to drag the 2 cons that were there away from the troops - much fun, especially as it was defended by more than 3, so against the odds as well.

Took a port with Stukas and a goon once.  Back when Waffle was a BoP, he led a PT boat/goon mission that captured a base.

I flew a goon to an enemy base relatively close to some mountains. I hugged the hillside, curcumventing the base to get to the town, when a low set of enemy B17's came through, passed over my goon, turrets blazing away trying to knock me down, and "BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"
All three slammed into the hillside. We took the base, with an added "thndrEGG landed 3 victories in a C47 of Birds of Prey Merlins".

Once while at tank Island, I decided to take some troops by M3 up to the next vbase in the line and hope to get lucky. It was a rook base.
When I got close, I could see the ak still firing so I didn't have the ability to take in the troops, so I just watched the events unfold from my M3 from behind a hill.

With no air cover to take down the field guns, multiple enemy GV's on the base and fellow friendly guys in  tanks had no vis on the guns, it didn't look good, just another dead run!!
But alas the air force showed up about the time I figured the GV's would spot me, but it was the Bishop air force. Thy took the AK down and killed the GV's.
I heard more GV's rolling, so I just wached to see if I could see which way they were headed.
What I heard was Bishop M3's. This was a planned mission to capture the base I believe. They let their troops run and I spotted them (2 sets) so I started up and headed to the map room with my troops.
I got to the map room just as the first set was entering and managed to kill most of them with my machine gun and let my troops out at the same time. As my troops were entering the map room, the second set showed up and I cut them down and killed the second M3 as well, and captured the base. Just as the ak popped up, bish goons showed up with troops and were shot down as well.

While a small furball was going on nearby, I had landed my goon and driven it up to the town maproom (this was before all those hedges) when I noticed there was a building or two still up.  I asked some squaddies to come take them down, but they had all been shot down.  They said they would be right back . . .

While waiting for them to show up, an enemy panzer literally drove right past me in the middle of town.  He killed the two squaddies that had come in Ostis to kill the buildings.  Then he towered.  Never came back to get me.

Same two squaddies showed up about five minutes later, took down the rest of the town, and it was ours.

Once drove up to a base in an M3 while ack and VH were dead except the maproom, GVs on field. Drove into the maproom VH and setup camp in there. The other VHs popped, ack popped and what not while I'm still sitting there. Soneone came through and killed the ack and flew away...rest of the GV's by the maproom towered out so I dropped troops and took the base. :)

The late mjollnir and I could take bases being defended with just the two of us.   I miss those.  :(

We spent nearly a whole day setting up a CV that would act as a refueling stop for an assault deep behind NME lines, we had 3 goons fly 8-10 sectors to land on the cv until it was in position, while the assault force was en-route to the cv (comprised of heavy fighters) the goons took off ahead of the group to continue deeper behind lines, the assault force refueled on the CV and also continued to conduct the attack.

After the first capture, the NME had killed the troops on the field, but had no idea that the goons continued to use the cv for rearm to deliver troops to the next field, this went on for some time until the cv was discovered.   Several captures were made with 1 goon.

Couple of years ago, does anyone remember The Great Troop Drop,  :lol  must have had 50 goons drop troops on a maproom, there were so many troops in the air people were getting screen freeze....  :lol

I was with the BOPs when we did something very much like this. Enemy had possesion of our V-base that spawned directly to our HQ. No way in hell were they going to give it up. So, we posted a "business trip" comprised of LOTS of C47's... and we got the base back.

I can't remember the map, but it was the one with A21 in the center, way up high.  The guys were trying to take the base to the East for over an hour using goons.  Towns flat and goon after goon died.  So I grabbed an M3 and drove like crazy the 25 miles.  No one was expecting a M3, drove right up to the map room and captured the base!
  Was Great!
