hum.....I would think the higher rate of fire for the Wirble would put it above the Ostie. Oh well, in game I think the Wirble. still holds the number one spot, just for the stated reasons.
IDK, just my feeling.

Higher rate of fire makes it easier to hit with, not necessarily better or more powerful.

Why?  No one has provided any credible evidence as to why the Wirbelwind needs to be perked, just like no one has been able to provide credible proof as to why the Spitfire Mk XVI needs to be perked.

In real life, the Germans found the 3.7 cm shells of the 3.7 cm FlaK 43 on the Ostwind to be more effective than the 2 cm shells of the  2 cm Flakvierling 38 L/112.5 on the Wirbelwind.

Well yes, each individual 37mm shell would do more damage each individual 20mm shell, but what I'm asking is,

Is the total damage done by the 4 20mm's on the wirb equivelant to, less than, or more than the damage done by the 37mm cannon on the osti, assuming all shells hit?

According the Germans it wasn't, at least against aircraft, otherwise they wouldn't have drawn up plans to swap the  2 cm Flakvierling 38 L/112.5 for the 3.7 cm FlaK 43 that was used in the Ostwind.

However, the 2 cm Flakvierling 38 L/112.5 was very effective against infantry and soft skinned vehicles.

So 37mm more powerful, but less ammo, and harder to land hits with. As Noir said, for bombers, the osti is your friend.

In real life, the Wirble couldn't fire all 4 guns at once as they had to be reloaded constantly and they used detachable magazines. At best, it was 2 20mm firing at a time.

Each of the four mounted guns fired from a 20-round magazine at a maximum combined rate of fire of 1,400 rounds per minute (reduced to 800 rounds per minute for combat use). The guns could be fired in pairs (diagonally opposite) or simultaneously, in either semi-automatic or fully automatic mode.

yes all 4 didnt fire with a single squeeze....... but all 4 were firing.......... he made it sound as though 2 would always be idle being reloaded which was not the case........ they fired 2 then 2 within a split second of each other
