So...

A short but hard solo flying with insane of G's vs relatively long but insane speed mayhem with other hole-heads nearby.

Which one has The Hardest pilots?

(edit)

Ooops! I forget the link

they are both equally hard, just in different ways.

Here is the question to ask yourself.
If I could only go to one of these events in my lifetime, which event would I go to?

Reno :aok

Exactly..  :aok

I've been to Reno the last 3 years in a row.. I've seen the Red Bull Races but Reno wins hands down, end of story..  There's nothing like 4000hp merlins and radials rumbling past at close to 500mph.. :rock

but by the same token, there's nothing like seeing that edge 540 pulling 9g's at nearly 300mph, 50ft alt, making a 90 degree turn.

they're both a blast to watch...although i've never seen either in real...only on tv

I suppose.. To each their own, but I personally like watching modified and stock warbirds beat the air to submission..  :t

now you're contradicting yourself.

those warbirds sail gracefully through the air, with grace and ease.

when did they start the helicopter races? "beat the air into submission"  :noid :aok

I was lucky enough to be able to go to the Reno Air Races a few ..ok .. more than a few years ago and for several years in a row my wife and I were able to go ..The whole weekend affair was the experience of a lifetime.

We'd ride the Honda Gold Wing up to Bally's ..check in, first year we setup the ride over with their Air Race shuttle ..every year after that we just rode the Gold Wing out there because with a bike, you can park right at the entrance. You can lane split in and out safely (if yer not a complete moron on a bike) so there is no waiting for the miles long traffic jam in and out.

Having Bob Hoover sign my Mustang shirt was priceless. The start signal is usually given as they dive into the course fairly close overhead and spaced a few hundred feet to the right of the bleachers we used to sit in.
There is nothing that sounds like the unlimiteds cuttin loose overhead when Bob says GO :)

Every year we went, Strega was asking the question of just how much nitrous can you pack into a Merlin for how long, vs the Rare Bear just plain cubic inch big dog goin for it. Rare Bear set the track record several times the years we went.

Was a total blast .. every year.

I have never been to a Red Bull event .. it's on my bucket list tho :)

Unfortunately no.. Big Bossman is my favorite to watch but I believe Mike Brown sold it last year.. Hopefully it'll return to Reno and race again someday..

My favorite too.  He must have had some serious money trouble--I knew September Fury was up for sale, but didn't know he sold BB too.  I hope whomever bought it takes awesome care of it.  That plane is definitely the ramp champ at Reno.

My favorite Reno video.... Nothing sounds quite like an F7F at full gonzo...
