What's your favorite car.
« on: January 25, 2001, 06:14:00 PM »
If you could own any car you wanted which one would it be? My personal favorite is the Ford GT40 MkII. It's just an all around monster. FAST, handles great, and it has a big block Ford in it which is a big plus in my book.   Next would be a 427 Cobra. This is aircraft and vehicles. Lets talk car type vehicles.

Dodge Stealth RTT

I know that doesent sound exotic but i ALMOST bought one a while back but im still young and had had an accident or 2 so I couldent force myself to pay the insurance on something like that.  But I did a test drive on 95, anywho they are a V6 with a 2 turbochargers, most folks dont think a v6 anything could be fast but it puts out between 300-320 hp, man that thing scared the crap outta me, it had faster acceleration than I could handle.  The thing is that they are not out of reach for the average Joe either, between 15,000 for the RT and about 22,000 for the RTT (the RT puts out about 255hp cause it only has 1 turbo)

This is the exact model I drove and ALMOST bought accept it was that new yellow color.

Always drooled when I read about the Callaway Corvette they called the Sledgehammer.
Docile enough to be driven by your grandmother to the grocery store, also had a top speed of 254 mph (not estimated, tested, proven, documented).  The thing was special order, expensive as hell, but it had all the amenities the production Vettes had, such as PS, PB, air conditioning, etc....
The reports said the engine torque, even in the nether regions speedwise, was ungodly.  Sounded wild to be pinned back in the seat when accelerating past 190 to 230....
Would also need a megabuck lawyer to keep me out of jail.....
I had it figured out once........lets see......leave Amarillo, hammer her down, and assuming no accidents/delays......the 116 mile trip to my front door "could" be made in around 29 minutes.
They had to "detune" the engine from its initial setup, as the twin turbos made more power with the radical cam, but the low end drivability suffered, so they took it down to 880 from 1100 hp.  My kind of car.

Christ Ozark how did you get a picture of my house!

"Let me tell you a story about a man named Jed..."

All great cars guys thx for the replies. BTW if any of you would be kind enough to post a picture of a GT40 MkII on here I'd sure be grateful. I can't get a picture on this damn board for some reason. I'm sure it's operator error. Oh dang, I almost forgot the 1963 Corvette Grand Sport! Someone has to put one of those on here. Bad machine! It would pull the front tires off the ground in second gear out of a corner! Ummmmm torque. As you can tell I lean to the older rides. Not that the newer ones aren't cool and in many cases much nicer cars. I just like the old rides.

VW Schwimmwagen.  Volkswagen reliability & ease of maintenance; four wheel drive; amphibious; and if you get one with all the bells and whistles, it comes with an MG42... who could ask for anything more?
