No, I heard somewhere that the sherman was about the same as the panther before all the upgunning happened.

Panzer, not Panther and Panzer in that context means a Panzer IV of some kind.   Panther is far superior to the Sherman and was almost certainly the best tank to see wide use in WWII.

lol, looks like the other panz (if that what it is) in the back ready to kill it.

OK, i do have to ask this.  What is with the ruff surface on the panzer and tiger?  Is there a purpose for the ridges?

The rough surfaces(called Zimmerite) was to help defeat magnetic anti tank mines.
Only problem with this is the Germans were the only army to use magnetic mines on a large scale.

And it probably helped against AP rounds as well.
it is a nonmagnetic paste that makes the magnets of attached hollow charges not work the paste was hardened by blow torches it had no effect to the tanks protection against AP rounds.

Oh OK. I thought he ment like how we have cages on our APC's that cause shaped charges to detonate before they are the optimal distance from the tank.

well I knew german tanks had anti magnetic paint, but I didn't know that it caused those bumps and ridges....

the putty/paste was hardened into that design as the second layer and to make it look cool =P i would like to see the putty removed from our tanks since its useless make our German tanks nice and shiny
