That's not propaganda. That's just greed at work.

When gas prices go up citing falling production due to natural disasters, terrorist rhetoric or whatever excuse they come up with that week, and then the oil companies report a MASSIVE increase in profits, you know something's rotten.

You knew something was rotten when they first jacked up the prices during (not after) Katrina. Somehow all the gas that was already in the tanks under the station was suddenly worth $1.50 more a gallon.

You guys can feel as sorry as you like for all the ppl who have been stepped on by American society thru our history, you can appologize for it if you like as well... I WON'T!!!  If the country is that bad, you can always LEAVE TOO!!   But I'll bet ya don't!!!

Of course, there have been times in American history when things did not end well for some ppl... But there is no other country in history that has done MORE, to help ppl all over the world...

That includes BLEEDING for them, when noone else would!!!   This, I have seen, with my OWN eyes!!! When you have played an active part in history as it happens, you view things thru that prism for life....

Ya mean there was a world history before there was a United States?  Your Kiddin? NO WAY!!!  LOL!!!

THC is corporate history.  Not even real history anymore.

It never was.  I remember when the channel was new.  We used to joke that it was the "Hitler Channel."  Seven out of ten shows were about what happened to Hitler in the bunker, what sort of astrology was Hitler into, why did people follow Hitler, etc.

When I was a boy I did enjoy the Wings and Wings of the Luftwaffe series on the Discovery Channel.  I don't know what happened to their programming, but by the late '90s those shows were on their death beds and a new generation of more commercially viable programming was on its way.

If you know that it's entertainment on the level of any other TV show, then it's fine.  What gets me is the stuff that's passed off as documentary that doesn't even touch journalistic standards.

If I want to see a good documentary, then I'll find myself watching something produced by the BBC or, occasionally, PBS.  Quality documentaries are never going to be commercially viable in a media market that's saturated with short-attention-span entertainment.

Discovery also had a lot of complaints in the '90s that they were a warmonger channel, back when a lot of their programming was geared towards the WWII enthusiast- Wings (and its spinoffs), GI Diary, reairings of all the old war documentaries, etc. They lost most of that programming in one season and started airing the crap they've been airing since. (OK, we get it, baby animals are cute, can we move on?)

As far as the "History Channel" goes, LOL!!!  Just the name is a joke these days!!!  But you have to remember who the parent company is, and how they are COMPLETELY OWNED, by ppl of a certain political persuasion!
The LAST thing they want to do, is portray Americans as heroic historical figures... So they avoid it!!!

You also make an assumption about me.  Yet, I will point out that a fact cannot be changed.  There have been heroic American figures.  The 5 from my family that bled and died so that you may berate me here are such heroic figures.  As well, you know absolutely nothing of my own service to this country.  Take a second prior to posting, next time, before you say something stupid again.

My point was that you brought in "American heroic figures" into a "History" thread.   Not an "American History" thread. I was bothered that in your contextual reference you failed to be aware that written history started many thousands of years prior to the signing of the Declaration of Independence.  This is an ongoing problem with people of your mindset, and is dangerous.  It provides one with a myopic vision of world events.

Guys, can we please get away from politics and back to the awful programming choices before Skuzzy comes in swinging?

LOL, Some things I take for granted, maybe I should not.. For example, the fact that MOST ppl in the world know, (unless you were born as a part of a prehistoric throwback tribe from the interior of Borneo), that the word "HISTORY", is an all encompassing term, that includes ALL aspects of Historical reference.. Ancient History, Roman History, Medieval History, European History, PRE HISTORIC, (as in, before the written word), Archeological History, Geological History, even Galactic History, all the way back to the freaking BIG BANG, fall under that umbrella term.. And yes that includes AMERICAN History.. So your "Point" is stupid in and of itself!!
To selectively miss something that simple, and freakishly obvious, you MUST have a college education!!

And, it makes me wonder, (with all this family history), why you would feel that it should be excluded from same.. Or, is this yet another one of those, "Overeducated idiocy things", that I see so much of these days!!!
This selective outlook on world events, is what is Truly Dangerous!! And has been proven Over and Over!!!

Ten exclamation points and five capitalized words later, a rant about the History channel not giving America enough credit comes to fruition.
