Different Town Styles Based On Terrain
« on: September 30, 2009, 09:16:09 AM »
Ok... I have no complaints about the european style towns we have now, but they do seem a little out of place in a desert or pacific terrain setting.  How about for pacific towns we have buildings that have straw and thatched roofs...  the current water tower could be replaced by one that looks wooden... etc.

For desert towns, you would have mudbrick and adobe style buildings like you see in Egypt and Tunisia during the North Africa campaign.

If we ever get snowy terrain in the main arenas, the buildings would have snow covered roofs, and could look more alpine in flavor.

The "military structures" (maproom, antennas, storage tanks, warehouses, etc) could remain the same in appearance, and the building locations would be the same as well... they would just look different and match the terrain better.

The terrain editor community seemed pretty excited about the new tool.  Maybe contributions toward this idea will soon follow.

What about Japan? Huge cities and different towns.

Oh, and +1 to the other themes!

I'd like to see about 10 different town layouts.  Having the same exact town/base/srat target each and every time gets to be too... same same.
