Yes. Only a bit over 100 were made, and a number of those were lost in training accidents, crashes, and whatnot (including teething problems where an engine might die and bring the plane down). Just saying "over 100 made" does not mean over 100 actually saw service, mind you. Probably only between 30-50 saw actual combat considering training losses, airframes out of service or in for repairs/maintenance, and so on. Usually there's a ratio of flyable planes, and sometimes it's less than half the total planes available.Skin choices will be interesting, but somewhat limited in variety. At least it answers the age-old question: "Can we do P-47M skins?"
Was the 56th FG the only one that flew the P-47M?
108 Ms were produced, 106 went to the 56th.10 pilots were actually killed in training accidents, but not all were caused by faults with the M.
just talk about random stuff but please stay on topic
I have the "Encyclopedia of WW2 Aircraft" it also says 130 made with 3 preceding YP-47Ms. It also says they went to the 56th FG only.
Could be snow, looking at the surrounding ground...
I wouldnt think so due to the oil staining after the cowl flaps...
