this has always bothered me.  the pny has 738 core clock, while the evga has 675,  but u guys recommend evga the most, is this a non-issue?  reason I asked is i bought the pny due to this higher core clock, ok also the box was prettier too.

EVGA = Lifetime warranty! Great customer service when needed on the phone and a good solid product.

PNY = Never had good luck with any of their stuff at all in the past and as such they don't get a mention in my rigs.

I would go with EVGA myself. I did a search by Nvidia and then 9000 series and finally 9800 GTX and it reported newegg had only one card. Faulty search engine I guess. I have a PNY I picked up at Best Buy in a crunch. The only problem I have had with them in the past was a faulty cooling fan.

:D Actually, I did for a few minutes...craigslist has been on my pooplist since it's inception...always considered it a place for scheisters and posers, and with all the negative news headlines over the past year or so, I right on some level...   :uhoh ...I'm going to poke around in it again to see what pops up, thanks for making the recommendation.

I've looked at the ATI cards...a lot...used to run nothing but back in the day...it's just this Nforce mobo chipset that has me hesitating. Back with the Nforce 4 and 5 chipsets, an ATI card caused problems if that's no longer the case then...hmmmm

Starting to look like 9800GT is the preferred choice.

I posted a link to an EVGA 9800GTX at Newegg.   What do you want?   You're bouncing all over the place.

GTX is the best bang for buck not the GT.

You can overclock an EVGA product to PNY speeds, but you can't overclock the PNY warranty and support to match what EVGA offers.

9800 GT seems to be identical to the 8800 GT.
Probably nice cards, but even my 8800 GTS 512 would whip the 9800 GT.

Chech out the fill rates for the cards on wiki.

Latest GPU for the 9800 and coolest running which means it will also clock higher if you like that sort of thing.

If buying a new 9800 GTX+ one might as well buy the GTS 250. Might be easier to sell on later.
