Hiya Hristo...long time no see !!!
Still remember me ??

Just thought I'd post some info on the A-series without cowl MGs...
Stuff that Wulfmen posted about the production aircraft and then some evidence on
what was done in the field conditions...
It's pretty funny coincidence...I have nice profile drawing of Staffelkapitän
Otto Kittel's A-5 stationed in Courtland (Latvia) Eastern Front, spring, 1944.
And it clearly shows outer wingcannons AND cowl MGs removed.
Also have profile drawing and photograph of Major Erich Rudorffer's A-6
(II/JG54, end of July 1944, Immola, Finland). The profile's introtext states that
that A-6 was one of Rudorffer's specially configured machines. It had among other things
(bombrack and IFF) its cowl MG's deleted. Photo of this plane show's it too if one
looks close enough.
So removal of the cowl MGs was done in the field too...how much it was done??
I think nobody knows surtain figures as these kinda things are pretty impossible to
research afterwards, but I bet it was done much more than most people think...
I lost your ICQ-contact and can't find it with ICQ's search engine.
Could you E-mail it to me sometimes...would be nice to catch up !!
P.S This is my first posting on internet messageboard I hope it displays ok...
