Even Real Rock Band cant play it.

I dont feel so bad that I stink at Rock Band.  I mean if these guys cant do it... Must say something about the game  :D

I would agree with you except that playing GH and Rock Band is different than playing the real instruments.

I was saying it more jokingly then being serious.  You have three guys at the top of the list of there respected instruments.  It just shows Rock Band and Guitar Hero are just games.  They give you nothing in terms of playing an instrument.

Hate rockband, I'm alright at the guitar, can play it pretty good, and I can learn very easily, but never got any where past easy mode in guitar hero. I'd go to parties, and everyone would be playing it, and I'd either sit down and just watch, or leave.

Errmmmmm.

Guitar hero is a whole lot easier than real guitar.  I got really, really good at that game in maybe 4 weeks.  4 years later, I'm still not really, really good at guitar.  And I know music already from playing trumpet for 9 years. 

Either way, that video is pretty good  :aok

I have no musical talent at all, except for maybe the ability to keep some kind of beat with drums. But I think Beatles Rock Band is fun and challenging.

Supposedly, playing the drums in Rock Band will actually teach you how to play the drums in real life.

Really? I have no musical talent myself, but I have heard from friends who play both that the game is harder sometimes.

Not even close, I've been playing the drums for 6 or 7 years now, got on the drum set at a friend's house and barely got through an easy song. I go to reach for the cymbal and it's not there :mad (And yes I know you were kidding)

I hate people who play these games and say they know how to play guitar, or drums, etc. Yeah anyone can play on a piece of plastic. ;)

There's absolutely no comparison. The game adds extra crap sometimes to make things harder, which gives people the idea that it's actually easier on a real guitar, but there's about 25x as many possible inputs on the guitar just based on strings and frets, not to mention that expression actually means something :)

Real instruments will always be much more difficult.

GH, RB, and all the clones are just glorified pattern memorization. No different from the Dance Dance Revolution series of games that preceded them, except now you get to sit on your butt and push the buttons.

I run a recording studio and have played professionally for the last 17 years on both drums and guitar.  For an experiment I had a friend of mine come out and give it a shot.  He'd been playing Rock Band drums for a little over a year and never sat at a kit before in his life.  He wasn't going to win any music awards, but he was playing a consistent groove with decent feel within an hour of sitting down.  There were differences to work out, but he managed it and transitioned quite nicely.  Rock Band won't turn you into Neil Peart, but it definitely helped him learn the basics and coordination. 

The problem comes in transition from real life to Rock Band.  Your mind has to work a different way and I suck at it.
