Congratulations Scotch, she's a beauty.

Next time I'm in Yaquina bay I'll see if I can spot her.  Good luck on your new adventure.

Renaming a vessel is bad luck...

Renaming a boat is considered bad luck but the following can help avoid said bad luck:

Vigor's Interdenominational
Boat Denaming Ceremony
by John Vigor

Vigor's Denaming Ceremony
"In the name of all who have sailed aboard this ship in the past, and in the name of all who may sail aboard her in the future, we invoke the ancient gods of the wind and the sea to favor us with their blessing today.
"Mighty Neptune, king of all that moves in or on the waves; and mighty Aeolus (pronounced EE-oh-lus), guardian of the winds and all that blows before them:
"We offer you our thanks for the protection you have afforded this vessel in the past. We voice our gratitude that she has always found shelter from tempest and storm and enjoyed safe passage to port.
"Now, wherefore, we submit this supplication, that the name whereby this vessel has hitherto been known (_____), be struck and removed from your records.
"Further, we ask that when she is again presented for blessing with another name, she shall be recognized and shall be accorded once again the selfsame privileges she previously enjoyed.
"In return for which, we rededicate this vessel to your domain in full knowledge that she shall be subject as always to the immutable laws of the gods of the wind and the sea.
"In consequence whereof, and in good faith, we seal this pact with a libation offered according to the hallowed ritual of the sea."

After a boat is denamed, you simply need to rename it using the traditional christening ceremony, preferably with Queen Elizabeth breaking a bottle of champagne on the bow, and saying the words:
"I name this ship ___________ and may she bring fair winds and good fortune to all who sail on her."

John Vigor, an Oak Harbor resident, is a boating writer and editor. He is the author of the following books:

Danger, Dolphins & Ginger Beer (Simon & Schuster) a sailing adventure novel for 8 to 12 year-olds.
The Practical mariner's Book of Knowledge (International Marine)
The Sailor's Assistant (International marine) For publication in 1999:
The Seaworthy Offshore Sailboat (International Marine)
20 Small Sailboats to Take You Anywhere (Paradise Cay)

Crew will vary, but Dano is coming down to work on it  :rock :rock :devil
Anywhere from 1 (me doing solo ling cod/salmon) to 4 (busy busy crab and halibut).

Cheesiest catch, no. But there might be some video.

The picture is where it sits right now in Newport, OR. That's the Yaquina bay bridge in the background. It's a really nice area

I'll need a Lt. Dan if we go shrimping this spring lol
Anyone can feel free to stop by :)

Thx man! We (Wife, GF, and I) just might next spring!!  Just for kicks..   Maybe Have a beer or two or three, LOL!! Think there is a place called Mobey Dicks? Had some fun there in Newport before.. Being local, you prob know the best places...The only time we really get down that far south is when we go sand railin at the dunes in Florence, or the bike races in Klamath falls.. Used to do some salmon fishing at Tillamook before it got so expensive for out of staters.. Gettin that way everywhere these days!!!

If you come up north, feel free to give a holler! (Forks, Lapush area) We'll have a few laughs!!

Sweet boat Scotch!  I pray her holds fill quickly and fair tailwinds be at your back.  Let me know if you need any cheap labor from someone who doesn't have much to tie them down ashore these days (will work for food and free AH while in port =P ).

Re: Salmon
We've had limited salmon seasons north of Cape Falcon, and a month long 100 fish per week quota system setup on Silvers this September. The return numbers are decent, we may get a full salmon season next year. At least in Oregon/Washington. California is pretty screwed no matter what. There will be a meeting in March to decide on the season for 2010. There is a salmon permit on the boat so I am hopeful to do some trolling though.
--

The boat will go where ever the bite takes us within Oregon waters (for now). :) But Newport is home.

There is a Moby Dick's here. It's supposed to be pretty sketchy though lol.

Kenai must have been nice! At some point I want to make it up to Southeast for a salmon season on a seiner and out onto the chain for some crab or cod etc.

There's always room on someones boat for a master baiter  :aok

K im sure you could take care of the whole boats masterbaiting needs, and if you lucky and scotch and the crew catch some fish they might feed you dinner too!
