What ways is it useful? Just curious.

Well I've been texted muted this past week because of kompound/Dr.Death and I had to use it to tell people gf's/<S> them or just to say hi to some of the buds.  If used properly it's a nice thing to have.

Amazing we've seen the way when someone being accused of hitting their kids is seen as a bad thing.

I've hit both my kids. Not often. And never without good reason. But often enough that they know I'll do it. this without question has prevented them from doing things some of the other kids in the area have done. Or repeating that same mistake again.

Some things a "time out" punishment just doesnt fit the crime. My son got whacked when he was younger for making playing with gasoline and matched in the local school yard.
My daughter. Got a swat on the bottom for biting someone
Both were justified.

Note I said hit. Not beat. There is a difference

The lack of true discipline in homes these days is a primary reason why we've now raised two generations of self serving undisciplined brats. Overweight, out of control and its all about "me" and instant gratification.

We see many of them right here.

You discplined yours but the rest of us didn't so there is the problem?  Come on Dred, folks have been saying that since the beginning of parenting.  99 percent of the kids out there are doing just fine.  As one who has worked with the 'troubled' teens for the last 25 years and raised three of my own at the same time, I can tell you it's a small minority that are the 'problem' kids while the rest are doing it just like we did as kids and our parents did as kids, etc.

Am I the only one that feels that this sort of rubbish should not be of any concern to HTC?

They have provided the .squelch feature.... Use it.

If you're playing an game with ~+-300 people from all walks of life from all over the world... expect some 'adult' and 'uncouth' language.

Is it gentlemanly conduct? Of course not. Are all 300 people online likely to be gentlemen? No.

Some people are just bastids, sore losers and knobs in general.

Warn your kids or use your headset.

I try to conduct myself in a respectful manner at all times whilst online... but I know I've let a few f-bombs drop (usually in jest, not in direct confrontation).

It's your job to tell your children that bad language is inappropriate.

It's not HTC's job to prevent them from hearing it.

I'm not trying to be rude or anything... I'm just saying to all parents that the responsibility to censor the entertainment coming into your house lies solely your hands.

Don't blame others... take action for yourself.

If, for example, it's impossible to .squelch private vox comms... (I can't remember) that should be implemented... but that should be the extent of HTC's concern in the matter.

Why?  Are the offenders that out of control?  Does it make them feel grown up somehow?  Do you think that if they were automatically ejected for bad language they still couldn't control themselves?

There's absolutely no reason why anyone should have to tolerate this.

I think its amazing you guys are using a community of a flight sim to judge people....online persona is something a lot of people mess around with.. usually to get a rise out of people, or whatever else...

I think private messages are hilarious.. I wish we had a forum dedicated to it.

If the people that PM'd me talked that way in real life, you'd think they would have had their teeth knocked in and would know better already ;)

I had a response. But decided to nix it.

Well, I'd say that they obviously don't control themselves and that perhaps they do syphon some gratification from cussing people out.

How could you ever eject people for bad language? Aside from sending in films and swearing in front of HTC employees, you cannot police spoken language.

Measures for policing written language are already in place.

And just to play the devil's advocate, swearing doesn't hurt anyone.

If you're offended by someone with a sailor's vocabulary, squelch them.

Of course, racial and ill-spirited remarks should not be tolerated... but the odd the f-bomb here and there.... what's the big deal?

If you don't want your kids to hear it you need to limit their access to public forums just as you would limit their access to a late night film.

Disrespectful conduct is not to be encouraged... but to expect others to A) live up to your standards and B) have those standards policed and enforced by others (who, frankly, do have better things to do) is a little unreasonable.

The rules are clear, written language censorship is in place and disrespectful treatment of other players is already dealt with through submitting films of the offending party to HTC.

What more do you want?

At the end of the day, some people are just 'axles'.... such is life.

[edit] Look ^, my language is already 'cleaned up' even though I used an alternative word for a 'rooster' found in the word 'cockpit' even though 'rooster' doesn't necessarily mean 'rooster' where I come from, if you catch my drift.

What more is there?
