it is a K-12 (VS-2) Russian bomber. it was one of the first A/C that didnt had a tail and therefor provided better rear deffense. And yes it was painted for parade on 18 of Augest 1937

AFAIR it was called "Zhar-Ptitsa" - "Heat-Bird" or a "Fire-Bird", a magic bird from Russian fairy-tales

You're all wrong !
It's the prototype of a Romulan "Bird of Prey" (StarTrek).
At least now I know, where StarTrek has stolen the design, although I don't know this plane. (It's a plane, isn't it ?)

I can see it now.....
-------------------------------
Pe-666 Mallard

An early version of a failed camoflage pattern.... missions were limited to attacks to the north in spring, and attacks to the south in fall since it followed the path of migrating birds.  Planes flying the wrong direction tended to confuse the local bird populations.

Aircraft rarely returned from missions or were found filled with buckshot holes from over-eager hunters.  Several aircraft that were lost turned up with dog bites around the tires and the feathers removed.

Bomb load typically consisted of a single 500kg bomb filled with PyrOtechnic Overpressure Phospogen (aka POOP).  It was found this bomb had only annoyance effect and was not of strategic value.

Serial production was halted after several hunters complained that they limited out their bird hunting tags for little or no return in actual food.

He he, stick to 109's and 190's, the Romulans had the first "Bird of Prey" ship in the
60's T.V.show.

The Klingons and their chief designer Kurt Tank had nothing to do with it :-)

There is even a look-a-like to the body/wing shape of the Soviet POS and the Romulan.
How do I know? I asked Scotty (who I knew when I was a kid)
