With noseart now available, some new additions might be welcomed too.
Right now it is rather unusual to see a formation of, let's say Fw 190A-8, where every single plane is Priller's black 13. Or a formation of 3 Hartmann clones, flying their Gustavs ?
. Every P 51D you shot down was Major George Preddy himself.
How about making the whole markings on plane customizeable ?
I can't speak much on Allied standard of plane markings, but Luftwaffe had unified approach on this.
When you first log to AH, you get a "clean" plane to start with. That means, only camo scheme and nationality markings (something you can't change). No numbers, letters etc. Now, depending on your rank in squad or just personal preference, you pick the marking on your plane. Of course, within the limits of historical markings use, so no long sentences or psalms

Even Quake kid could use the letters to write something like "kiL" or whatever on his C-Hog

It would work the same way as noseart works right now, with separate directory.
This way you can really film the take off of JG 26 or make some inflight formation films.
Next thing would be plane skins. I am sure many of us find some paint schemes better than others.
This is probably big work for art department guys, but still it would be welcomed. Imagine being able to chose different (and historical) camo schemes for 109 or 190, from JG1, JG2 etc. Winter schemes, Mediterranean, night fighter paint schemes and so on. Not sure about Allied again, seems they had way more standardized camo schemes.
One example is the JV 44 Dora. Some of us find the paint scheme way cool, why some like it a little bit less. Why not satisfying both parties ? Make the JV 44 Dora, but give other folks the Dora of JG 26 or JG 54.
Try the iconles setup now. Right now it is possible to identify even plane subtype just by its camo scheme. A nimble Fw 190A-5 of Otto Kittel can easily be distinguished from heavy Fw 190A-8 flown by Pips Priller, just by spotting the yellow fuselage band. Realistic ? Hardly.
Were all Bf 109G-2s of Finnish air force ? Surely some were Luftwaffe

How many Luftwaffe pilots were able to ID the shiny plane with red tail as the P 51D of George Preddy? From great distances it might have been any other plane with red band, nose or tail.
In real life you would be happy to ID the plane as 190 at all.
Any thoughts and suggestions ?
