Ladder 1vs1 Programmed Nightly Tournament
« on: October 27, 2009, 11:02:07 AM »
I really don't see this being hard to program.  Including myself alot of people like 1vs1 like the Koth but this would be alittle different.  You would always be 1on1 and wouldn't have the 1vs1vs1vs1's like the Koth.

Say it starts at 9mst every night.  Set it up similar to a mission one click join.  Then after it's time the program would generate what plane is first and the ladder.  Secondly it would automatically put you in the air in cockpit 6k away from your opponent heading towards each other at the same speed same alt.  I know there would be some kinks to work out but thats just the basic idea I have.

doesnt have to be at a set time.

Kaz wants a ladder system with a lobby area.  You find someone to fight it launches a H2H arena soon as someone dies it closes rinse and repeat.   The higher the ladder rank you defeat the more places you jump.  Random planes get selected.

It will be like the dueling bracket except accessible to all 24/7.

That sounds like it would be cool, even sounds better then my idea I like it.

+1.

Like Bruv said, it would be like having a duelling bracket accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Instant competitive action!!!

Having optional brackets, 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 etc would appeal to people more geared towards team play.

HiTech showed some interest in the idea btw.

It's a very good idea. The MA can get tiring. The DA furball is not much different and it's difficult to find good 1v1s.

Also a very good way to measure your progress in ACM skillzzzz. And no more silly score/rank debates - you want to prove something, join the ladder.

I’ve played other games which use such a matchmaking system, it’s the best fun I’ve ever had!

Would be cool to have a duelling cue from the lobby where you can pick your opponents or have a random matchup.  I don't want the ladder/ranking/score type aspect of it.
I think that is just for ego stroking and probably discourages people with "lesser" skills from participating.  Baldeagle's bracket already shows who the better sticks are.

Just having a fun fight win or lose should be reward enough.

Something I just thought of - make the Ladder be spectator accessible. That way, you can drop in and watch the best sticks dueling and learn something. Also adds some pressure, which is fun.

I wouldn't associate the typical MA ranking aspect to a dueling ladder.  There is no way to manipulate it.  The topdogs will have to be very good sticks to be higher on the ladder.  Competition should drive people to improve their flying,  the mouthy types with ego's wouldn't dare step into the ladder with the badass sticks!

some "lesser" sticks should get paired with equals.  Without the ladder system in place you will have no way of knowing the level the person your fighting is at.  Hence noobies getting beat down or bullied by morally weak players.

I'll even go as far to say that if you can show me a top fighter pilot without an ego, i'll agree to having no ladder system.
