Wishlist posting requirements
« on: October 31, 2009, 07:06:24 AM »
I wish you had to be a member of this BBS for one full year before being able to post here.  You can look at the wishes, search wishes and maybe reply but no new threads.

Sorry, but no.  If you find a post annoying, ignore it.  If you find many posts annoying, ignore them.

Just because a member has had their account for under a year doesn't mean they can't have a good idea.  I've seen many good ideas from newer members.
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

In phpBBB3 there is a mod for this, you can set it to time, post count, etc. You can also set it so it won't tell the user the specified post count that is needed.

But it is a little brutal on the new guys...

Fail, ignore threads you find annoying like Yossarian said. It seems like something like this comes up about every 2-3 months at least. Why would yours be the one that finally shuts down the newbs?

I  have a wish of my own, I wish we would stop posting ways to limit newbs. They won't learn any thing unless they touch the stove.

Why exactly does time on the boards have ANYTHING to do with wishes for the game?

I came to AH when Air Warrior died...... didnt come to the boards until May 2007......... and until this year I probably had less than 20 posts here.

So if this rule had been in place in 2007...... this would imply that after years of playing I still wasnt qualified to make a wish for some game change?

Or even better that someone who had just joined the game in 2006 would be somehow more qualified?

I'd like to see people that make request like this be banned from this forum for a year.
There's no need for the bonking of newcomers who post a well thought out aircraft request.
So what if somebody's asked for the aircraft before? The "I'm so superior" replies of Learn to use the search feature are way more annoying than a new person showing some interest in the sim by posting an aircraft request. Seriously how bad does a new thread threaten you?

The only way it threatens them is the B-29 threads that if they finally put it in, the fighter people who can't fight anyone, and so attack bombers will suddenly be put out of business.

And as for the "holier than thou" types, they just want to feel good.

The difference is, we aren't seriously asking for anyone who wishes for a restriction on posting in any way, to be banned from the boards for a year.

The difference stroker, is that they dislike your original post because it is unintelligent and unreasonable.

Your "joke" request in contrast is aimed purely at time spent on the boards which does not in any way indicate intelligence or ability to reason properly.

Huge difference.

If we were going by intelligence of posts, then he would have shot himself in the foot with that one.
