Holy Moses.   :O

Some day, some how, it will be grand to play a flight sim with graphics like that.
The new planes may look great, but the older ones still look pretty hideous. P.11 anyone?

Really?  He didn't do it with IL2...

ack-ack

According to you. I trust his judgment far more than yours. No offense.

Here's the trailer that shipped with Il-2 1946: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GtsNqaE1yU

On several of the airframes the flight model is better than any other WWII flight sim before or since...but to notice it, you have to spend more than a few minutes setting up the stick and put the game in full reality mode...not many people can handle the game like that though.

True some are over modeled and others are under modeled...

Does anyone know what kind of hit we'd take in frame rates? I want to know if it would still be playable on my machine.

Plan on upgrading if you have to ask.

If you're just playing single player and not online vs or MMO...shouldn't be a problem even with an AGP video card as long as it is over the minimum specs. Unless they have come up with some novel way of precaching all of the textures for online play that should be the only time you notice any lag effects.

I have a pretty sub-par system and I've played things that looked similar with pretty good framerates.

Yeah, you may be right that SoW won't be quite so system intensive after all.  Il-2 1946 is prettier than AH and gives better frame rates, and RoF is stunning and still totally playable on my system.

The flight models in Il-2 were all the same, with different numbers for power and weight.  There was no effect from different airframe designs at all.  It was wholly generic, which is why it was so easy for them to add gobs of aircraft that have for which there is no existing flight data at all.

Do you have any data or evidence to back up this hyperbolic claim?

I'm sure there's lots of good data for the Me-163 and that's why we have it in AH. ;)

I still can't get over how bad the external textures look. What's with that?
