I see people mentioning "licensing rights".  Do makers of WWII flight sim games really have to license the rights to the appearance and/or simulated performance of long out of production historical aircraft?!?  That seems ridiculous.  It seems ridiculous to me even for current production commercial aircraft, let alone long gone government (military) owned aircraft.

Yes. Cars, planes guns etc. If you're portraying another company's product you need their permission, and in some cases they require you to license it. They usually also demand some influence in the creative process to make sure their product is presented in a favorable way. For example some car games were not allowed to model damage because the car manufacturers didn't what their cars to look bad.

lol,and that's only gonna make the kids that play em think "oh well if cars don't get damaged when they hit stuff in this game, then I guess they don't get damaged in real life... LET'S GO RAM SOME STUFF!"

Most kids have either experienced or seen the aftermath of a car wreck by the time they begin to play video games, which makes your point null.

It is idiocy to the first degree. When the revolution comes we will put all the lawyers that handled these issues against the wall and shoot.

I can see the point in arguing this about an on-market product. What? modeling WWII warbirds in a computer game will hurt their sales of F4Us?

It looks good and I have always thought that they did terrains very well. I have never flown a WW2 era high performance aircraft so I have no idea how it should or should not handle...its a game and it helps me alleviate some stress from time to time.

Actually the He 111 was known for its ability to sustain heavy damage and survive. It was one of the reasons the RAF turned away from batteries of 8 or 12 machineguns and started using cannons in their fighters. They also turned to concentrating their attacks on the 111's cockpit, which offered little protection to the pilot and crew.

Beautiful screen shots. Can't wait to play that game!

Looks pretty, but so does Il-2. I'll wait for a report on the flight modeling and interface before I waste any money on it.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Yes it looks insanely pretty, and I'm sure the FM will be great as well... Though I'm one of those who like Il-2.
