can you guys recommend a good (easy to use I may add) windows partition freeware? thanks in advance

Your Windows OS disc should be able to format, partition, etc just fine. Just have your computer boot from the OS disk instead of the hard-drive as if you were installing Windows.

P.S. If your looking for a program to manage partitions that already have data on them and such it may be worth looking into Easeus Disc Partition.

win7 has built in partition manager which from my experience works just fine.
