Since we never really had a hockey team close to me until 1997, I didn't follow hockey all that much.  I think I remember following it a little in the mid 90's and pulling for the Rangers, but ever since '97 I've followed these guys....

I'm not what you would call a die hard fan or anything, I just like pulling for them and am looking forward to going to my first NHL game hopefully later this month.  The Mrs. is all excited about going too, we've heard nothing but good things from people about how awesome they are to see in person.

Ice Hockey is one of those games that are really great to see live.  There's so much happening that TV doesn't capture.  Players changing on the fly, action behind the play, etc.  These guys skate so fast too, you don't get the sense of that on TV.  You'll have a blast, I'm sure.  Shout at us when you see a game!~  :aok

I would have picked Malkin too, but I think they're trying to get Crosby to understand what it takes to be great in the NHL by making him the captain. It's not all about skills but sportsmanship and teamwork count just as much or even more. making him the captain is like the coach telling him "Ok, you're the captain for this team. I know you're new to the NHL, but you need to learn discipline and much more before sportsmanship too." He's kinda being forced to learn these concepts by being made captain, and it's slowly working too. In a few years he may be even better than he is now, but he has a lot of learning to do first.

+1  :aok Bonus if any fights break out, the ladies love the brawls. I took a female friend to her first Bruins game in college between periods she excitedly asked "are their going to be more fights?"

The Sabres.

If only we could keep our players.  The Sabres would have a good team if they would pay the extra money and keep the talent they have.  Kotalik, Drury, Briere, and Biron all leave because they are too cheap.
