Yowsa

Those extra bombs would come in handy for us A8 jabo types.

Cit,
Did the P-38 ever actually carry 2 2000lb bombs on strike missions?

If so, wow.

Tigers? why not just use a springfield? 2000 lb seems like overkill.

There are some gun camera films from the 357 where two P-51's drop their single thousand pounders (other pylon had a DT) and watched as it bounced off the Tiger and wasted a small hotel next to it. Tiger survived unscathed from both bomb blasts.

C Yeager mentions it in his book, Anderson has also recalled that particular mission

Besides the trick would be to knock out a platoon of Tigers with one good drop

Didn't they also use those 2000lb bombs on the rides with that glass nosed P-38 which had norden in it?

And yes.. Ju-88 must have its 1000kg bombs in inner racks.

DROOP SNOOT!!!

fd-ski; 6000ft is probably the length of runway a Fw 190G carrying a 1800kg bomb would need to get airborne.
