There are no guiedliness other than if you catch them in a bad mood, you are getting muted.  That happens to everybody.

Soon enough you'll just laugh it's so rediculous.

It's not a word, so how is it offensive. infact how is the letter F offensive at all, like I said it could mean anything, fudge, frack, freak, frick. It's just rediculous how sensitive people are to the letter F. But if someone comes in and tells us that the Letter F or abreviations are no longer allowed that's fine, I'll avoid them, but just being muted for that is a little too strict especially since I didn't know that the letter F with asteriks "foul language"

Masked vulgarity is still vuglarity.  Maybe when you get a little bit older you'll understand, until then enjoy your time out from chat, I know I will.

Uhh all the guys bashing the OP....

You realize that things like foook, fk, chit, etc which are more indicative of the word trying to be censored PASS the filter? Yet when the OP self-censors more of the word than these instances do... he gets muted?

Seems weird to me.
I have seen no one bashing the OP. He comes to the boards asking about something that he should be calling HT about.

The other words getting by does not make what he is doing right. If you'd like to see something similar..... try travaling with a couple of other trucks down the highway at higher than posted speed. Cop may pull just you over..... if you ask why he picked you, he'll probably tell you it's like duck hunting..... you can't get them all.  :aok

Please point out where I bashed the OP. He asked, I answered to the best of my knowledge.

As far as bashing, that's the tone I read into everybody else's posts. It's fine if I'm wrong on that.

On the other hand... him not being right does not make it FAIR. And that's my point. If this happened to me, I wouldn't be angry at being censored but with all the other versions slipping by, especially in AH where these variations are COMMON and almost accepted as substitutes. Maybe I am taking my personal lens to what the OP was asking about, but that's how I see it.

And with the cop, it's a completely different situation. There's ONE cop and therefore he can only catch one person at a time. The profanity filter could easily catch at LEAST the common variations that I've mentioned in addition to the less obvious F!(%*^ variation.

Edit: the proper police analogy in this case would be IGNORING the guy driving at 150 mph while catching the guy driving at 70 mph but trying to slow down to the limit when he sees the cop.

They all get caught sooner or later.

Once again, you miss the point.

If it takes an equal effort to catch... say a killer or a speeder, who would you rather catch first? Obviously the killer.

Something obviously worse gets by while something obviously less harmful gets caught when it's just as easy to catch one as the other. Doesn't make sense. Justice may be served tomorrow, but that doesn't make today's treatment more just.

Any attempt to bypass is not acceptable, including the ones you posted. The rules are perfectly fair. They apply to all.  The filter did not trip him up, the common judgment of people in the arena tripped him up. It is impossible to write a filter to catch all, so we have back up systems such as moderators and the report feature.

99% of the time someone comes here and post something like this, they are posting only the final statement that broke the camels back.
......
Skuzzy walks in my office after I typed above, and also was reading this but we had no knowledge of each other reading.
Skuzzy looked at the logs and muted him. And as I said about 99% of the time, I was correct.

Since you asked it was not what you state why you were muted, but many other incidences that showed up in the logs.

Ok, I got it. It's not the filter. No more complaints here.

You miss the point.... derogatory terminology is what it is. It's all bad. Play the word game and one day they will be caught.

Well drew... what were you looking for..a shoulder to cry on? When you have this type of problem it is better to call HT. These type posts never do well on the boards where they really do not belong.

Last time I'll write on this, especially since HT answered my concerns.

It's not IF you get caught. It's WHEN - before somebody who's a much worse offender or afterwards?

And no, not everybody is caught because not all of it is used in a context which offends people (i.e., squad chats for example, among friends who don't care). FWIW, I feel much better with HT's post and explanation - I mostly trust the reporting system when it's filtered through their judgement.
