Siren/airfeild alerts
« on: November 19, 2009, 07:27:35 AM »
Would like ot see these more localised.
Currently "Base under attack' largely ignored and thus pretty much useless because a base somewhere is almost always under attack.
if we must have an early warning system Rather see a ltimed and limited text based warning system stating which base is being threatened.

Something like System: HQ REPORTS ENEMY TARGETS SPOTTED AT BASE 123.
SYSTEM: HQ REPORTS BASE 123 UNDER ATTACK BY ENEMY FORCES

Air raid sirens.
would like to see two different types. one for airfeilds/GV bases like we currently have and one for CVs
something like this

http://www.nj2bb.org/sounds/gq.wav

http://www.nj2bb.org/sounds/general.wav

Sorry. But far as I know your not one of the "coad"ers to make that call. So you will forgive if I dont take your denial with any seriousness.

But just out of curiousity
Such as?

Sirens would be as simple as assigning sound files to types of bases And we are only talking about adding 1 separate one for CVs
In the sounds folder you would see Airraid.wav as we currently have. And added would be something like CVAlert.wave.

As for the text it would be a matter of assigning text to a feild. If a field under attack can be assigned a blink. And we can have text stating how many kills a specific player landed. A text message can certainly be assigned to a feild under attack.

What admittedly  little I know about coding. Seems to me this would be a relatively simple operation.

One thing that you can do is change the sound file for the air raid to what you want.. Also have you checked out the custom sound files that US Ranger tic toc and the others have posted???

I know about the sound files.
what im suggesting is seperate sounds for ground based bases and the CVs.

CV's generaly dont do air raid sirens
And ground bases generally dont do General quarters.

I'd also like to see a limit to how long they go on for.  Say 5 min from the start of the base flashing

Agree the "Base Under Attack" is a waste these days. It might be effective on a small map, but those are the exception any more. A more detailed message would be welcome.

Different siren on the CV? That's candy and a lower priority than the message, but if it's doable, why not.

How about;
If it's the base you took off from (easy, already recorded for 'room' chat) you get the current audio signal (instead of whatever the current requirement is)
All other bases are recorded over text.

Then again, that may need to be a separate radio buffer due to the frequency of base attacks.

:lol That's funny.  I was just wishing we had a separate warning sound for the CV last night.  Cool coincidence.

Why not add a warning option on the radio bar. Dump the help orange  text since everyone uses country for that anyway. Maybe make it a .command for airfields/ports/v bases/CVs.       just a thought until some   game expert flames it.

But far as I know,i know im not. But i still gonna say NO! I have the right to say that I'm agree or not. i don't care what you think. Really, the base warning system works just fine. There are many better ideas than this one.

You can say "NO" all you want. You still dont have the power to implement it.
Therefore your saying "no" is meaningless.

You may however, disagree.

True. may be better ones. may be worse ones. In either case. Most wont be implemented anyway.
Seen any of yours implemented lately?
