Repair Hangar
« on: November 19, 2009, 02:44:27 PM »
How about a hangar one can roll into and have their plane fixed to reup. Maybe spend a few perk points and several minutes wait to get the mechanics on the job, maybe the amount of time being relative to the amount of damage. There's been several times I've had a great sortie with a couple kills and end up missing an aileron, would be really neat to be able to RTB and spend a perk point or two to get that same sortie rolling again.

Repairible damage??? good or bad idea

Don't like the idea.  Development resources are limited, and spending it on a revamp of existing code for repairs instead of updating FM's, damage models, and addition of new content (like planes) would make less sense to me.

Although we get a rearm of 30 seconds, doing damage repair is far more extensive than rearming a plane.  Even minor damage must be investigated for any additional damage that is not readily apparent in an aircraft.

IRL: Sure, patching holes in the exterior and control surfaces can be dealt with quickly, but what unseen damages could there be to the control runs, fluid lines, frame structure, fuel cells, and so forth that would not be apparent until the plane had it's panels opened up and inspections done?  Not a quick thing.  Planes coming back with damage would typically spend all night in the hangars being gone over by ground crews to be readied by the following day, or they would be deemed too far gone and salvaged for parts.

In game: seems just a way to either try to run up scores and kill numbers even more for the name in lights thing by some, or a means to get around when FH's are dropped at a field at which point it then becomes a game balance issue.

In any case.  I don't see the need and too marginal for expenditure of development resources.

I just went threw 10 pages of different Topics of Repair Hangers and couldnt find the one i was looking for. There was a Topic years back where a person gave a way more Detailed reason for us to get Repair Hangers with Time delay's and History over each part of the plane.

Anyway. What im getting at is this has been posted, reposted, Over and Over and keeps getting turned down. And it will most likely Always be turned down.

Just Land and re'up, its quicker, easyer, doesnt make the game have to be completely Recoded.

hey I dont mean to insult anybody, since I am new to the boards and I dont know everybody with HTC.  but I have read some postings for some people who always talking about "this would require revamping the code.. or would be too hard to add to the code.." or something along the same lines.  are you guys with HT or just giving your opinion as a player.  I think if you are just giving your opinion as a player, then you should state that, otherwise some people (like me) get confused and think you are giving HT opinion.  which I believe is wrong.

Semp im not part of HTC

but any person with any knowledge of computer that has looked into coding will understand the concept of coding a 3D game of this size is in fact hard / time consuming.

not questioning your knowledge and then again not trying to insult you or anybody else, but if you read your post it kind of implies that you are in the loop regarding how AH will decide to spend or what resources, or how they decide to proceed regarding this topic.  Again dont take this personally, I am only making a comment here since this is the first time I decide to bring it up.  But I wish that  if somebody posts a comment regarding revamping the code (or along those lines ) they should make it clear that they are not with AH, and that will stop the rest of us from wondering if its an official comment or just a personal opinion.  there are posts all over from people that sound as if they are giving an official comment and up until now I realized that they were making just a comment as a player.

Again I am not trying to stop somebody from posting their opinion, since that is how us noobs learn a little everyday  :salute

semp

ps.  I know you guys who know about codes and stuff understand each other, but my comment is more like to make it clearer to us noobs that know nothing about it.

Even if a repair to a WW2 combat aircraft was simple, it would usually have taken rather longer than 'several minutes', and no sane pilot would fly the aircraft again until the repair was tested and properly signed off. Your idea's a no-go, Twitchy, just take your lumps and grab a fresh aircraft.

well then the same thing should apply to gv's.  (as indicated on the other thread).  but in my opinion it neither gv's nor planes should be able to repair.  reload, maybe but not repair.  sorry if i dont make any sense heavily sedated due to some minor surgery. taking some nice pain killers and that fricking banana makes me laugh so hard.

hitech.....since when if i may add?

thats my main tactic for base defense. put a Osti on a rearm pad and go back to work. you just stay on the rearm pad then when you run out switch to 1 then barley move then wait for it to finish reloading you.

maybe a glitch you overlooked and no one thought about telling ya.

Iv played off and on for Years now.
