Say weperk the XVI. Say that's a plane someone ups for NOE busting...if its got a 5 perk value on it and he doesn't feel like upping it, what will he turn to next? Niki, LA? I am for a perk but how much would it affect the general census of the community?

Turn radius is only part of the story. Turn rate is also very important, and here the 38 has a clear edge over the 51:

Ahh thanks snailman, only have access to some charts, know where I can get others?  :)

Exactly, that balance is what keep people from complaining too :)
38 and 51 turn comparison

really no difference if you compare flaps and no flaps.

Check the turn RATES

how does popularity in the DA furball lake have anything to do with perk in the LW MA? :headscratch:

Because it is a free, competitive market of people mostly *somewhat fighting* (as opposed to porking, bringing something with a big gas tank for vulching,or OPHAing everything) a2a with every available prop plane, most of them looking for the most advantageous ride, oddballs who fly Jugs and 109s in there aside. Needless to say, some of their choices might still be questionable, but the fact that certain non-perk rides stand up there with the perk planes in usefulness IS interesting.

That's from Spatula's Performance Comp Application. You can find it at http://www.major.geek.nz/AKUAG/

But it's a bit outdated, you won't find data "newer" planes like F4U-1A  ;)

Because it is a free, competitive market

And totally different from the MA environment.

I've said it once, I'll say it again, and I'm sure I'll say it again: there is no other "fighter" that is as capable as the Spit 16.

It climbs, turns, rolls, and keeps E with the best of them.  Its speed chart is nothing to wave off, either.  While not the fastest, it moves average at worst in the LW arena, and well above average the higher it gets to 20k.  The paired 20mm and a couple of.50cals need nothing said about them.  The Spit 16 also carried 1000lbs of ordnance (1/500lb and 2/250lb).  That is 3 dead tanks, plus all the air kills one were to tackle while diving in and out.

Compare the Spit 16 and the Spit 14.  Keep in mind the typical operating alts for AH (15k max and lower), the only real edge the 14 has is a wee bit of speed and climb from a dead stop.  Otherwise, of both have equal or near equal E the race will be very very close, with no real advantage for the 14 until 20k alt is reached.  Now, with those 2 very minor attribute differences in mind, take all the other advantages the 16 has over the 14 and I, like many, do not see the reasoning for the 14 to be perked and the 16 to not be perked.  Whatever the logic is, I'd wish it be explained.

Why do the ENY scores stop at 5?  Why not cut off some of the "borderline" airplanes with the slightest imbalance of teams?  Put some of those planes at 2 or 3 ENY?  Keep the perked planes perked, and make the really high value ENY aircraft very ENY sensitive.  Make the perked aircraft and the really high vaule ENY aircraft "red line" into a bit of a blurry gray line?  Yes, there may be a time when the Spit 16 couldnt be taken and the perked Spit 14 could be... but hey...  why not?  Think about it.
