Laptop Question
« on: December 03, 2009, 04:35:21 PM »
ok so I feel comfortable taking apart desktop towers, replacing parts, etc (built the one I am using now).

However I need to know if it's possible to upgrade laptops? Doing some digging I found that memory and batteries are easy, however what about hard drives? Also the laptop I am thinking of refurbishing is in need of a new keyboard, where would I find a good replacement keyboard?

hard drives shouldn't be much of a problem, just slip em in and out, but you need to make sure everything fits right

Depending on the model of laptop...my old Inspiron 6000's HD had 1 or two screws and it slid out.

For a HP Pavilion dv6000:
looking at adding 1gb RAM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148165&cm_re=1gb_DDR2_SDRAM-_-20-148-165-_-Product
Found the keyboard on e-bay for $13 with a 6 month warranty.
Hard Drive is not a major issue at the moment, but going to keep my eyes on the look out.

I found a walk through specifically for this computer so that is very useful/
