Something has to be screwed up somewhere in your setup or installation...maybe even how many different processes your SB Xfi soundcard is running that is absolutely unnecessary and might be the issue all together.........
my setup: ( incase it makes a difference ? )
Antec 900 series Case with (2) 200mm fans & (3) 120 mm fans
ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe MB w/ WiFi ( WiFi is disabled, I seldom use it )
AMD 64 Athlon 6400+ X2 3.2 ghz dual core
(4) 1 gig Corsair XMS2 PC6400 dual Channel simms
ASUS EAH3870 TOP/G/HTDI/ 512meg DDR4 PCI-E videocard
SB X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series ( the current equivalent model = X-Fi Elite Pro )
PC Power & Cooling 750watt Silencer/Crossfire edition PSU
ASUS DVDRW Dual Layer burner with Lightscribe
ASUS DVD-ROM
7 in 1 multi card reader with 3.5 Floppy drive
(2) Hitachi 320 gig SATA II hard drives
(1) Hitachi 160 gig SATA II hard drive
(1) Hitachi 120 gig SATA I hard drive
1 of my 320 gig HD's is set up as Dual Boot:
1st partition = windows XP Pro SP3 32 bit
2nd partition = Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
I have had no issues at all with either OS: XP or Windows 7.......... and Aces High has worked extremely better under the Windows 7 OS for me than it does in Windows XP.......
I would say the only small adjustment I had to work with was getting Windows 7 sound to the same adjustments I had in windows XP for aces high........
as MrRipley has pointed out in an older thread regarding windows 7......... Vista and Windows 7 do not utilize DirectX the same way windows XP does.... regarding sound..........
I run both my OS's ( partitions ) with very close watch on keeping processes to a minimal......... and keeping both OS's from becoming a CLUTTERED MESS..........
I know everyone's PC is put together differently.......... and people install hardware, programs, etc.. differently and set them up differently.......
but just saying....... I have used the newest drivers for my Hardware on each OS....... whether it is 32 bit for XP or 64 bit drivers for Windows 7.......
and I have not had any of these issues of Aces high crashing on me because of my sound card.......
