Apart from issues relating to adolescence, I think the idea is generally a good first step to be able to costumize in game content, that does not affect other players.

I know HTC's gripe with custom player costumization, but most of it if not all has to do with content that is visible on the plane itself, to other players. That's why skins have to be approved, and then added to the game. This prevents historically incorrect skins, for example. Or me creating a skin that has Megan Fox pictures all over it. Makes sense.

However who cares what I can see inside my own cockpit, apart from me? I think it would add a nice personal touch to every bird we fly. I would have different images in my Spitfire, than I have in my German rides of choice.

Drawing from that analogy, what is there to keep you from making your floor/dash/bulkheads or anything else, transparent?

That would have to be controlled by the implementation. The regular cockpit is still in place, you might just have a nice 3d model of a photo with a custom image, making it look like it was actually modeled into the cockpit model itself. I'm not a graphics expert, but that's how I would imagine the implementation to look like.

Sort of like what we have with squad logos on planes, just your own and in the cockpit, in the spot you choose.

What my parents would worry about is when I switch into another squadmates cockpit.

That's what I don't want, I like playing this game too much!  This is NOT I reap NOT some sort of fundamentalist view, I just want to keep playing!

Ok Penguin, you actually sound sincere about your concern, so how about we include an "quick clear" option for the pilot in the options section of the clipboard to where the pilot can shut down the customized cockpit, immeiately returning the cockpit to the normal view setting so that observers will not be offended....  or as another option how about a setting during the join request interaction to clear the custom cockpit and retun to normal as part of the join request approval procedure....

It would be completely client side... the game can't display a file it doesn't have... and you wouldn't upload the file to any server (talk about a ton of crap).

Yes, Motherland got it.

When you 'switch into your friends cockpit' you would not be seeing their customizations. There is nothing the server needs to know about the client cockpits. Squeekers: you have no reason to panic.

This idea is flawless!

Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

Not unless I can help it. I liked the direction that HTC took with the terrain revamp, they made a bold step to catch up with trends. I see this wish as the same kind of step.

Adding newer and newer planes will get boring after a while; I will risk the statement that any new additions will become hangar queens.

Sometimes, we just need to remember what the rules of life really are: You only
need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the
WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
