I think it's a good idea, like he said, he needs every solider he can get, and when someones actions take them out of the fight there has to be consequences.

Pfft the women's rights groups don't have a leg to stand on.  Military personnel have to follow a different set of rules than civilians.  I see no problem with this kind of thing as there have been a bunch of stories of female soldiers getting pregnant so they won't be deployed.  That's almost as bad as the love muffines that say they aren't going because they enlisted for the college money not to go to war.

I knew females who got preggers to get out of a Korean deployment.  This is nothing new.  When you are in the service Uncle Sam owns your butt.  Getting preggers to get out of deployment is no different than shooting yourself in the foot to get out of deployment.  Yet another reason why women should only be in rear support roles.

How do you figure?

Seems to me they are discouraging pregnancy during deployment.  If you get pregnant, you're busted whether you get an abortion or not.

That was my first thought too, which could be dangerous when they are deployed in third world countries.

You will never be able to stop young enlisted personal from hooking up and no protection is 100%.

Here in Canada, women are allowed to get pregnant while enlisted. I just googled it.

Whats worrying me most is that, if you're really worried about the female part of the force getting preggers -> your recruitment rates can't be that great!

He needs every soldier he can get his hands on.

Making the pill mandatory (i.e. women take it at roll call), would greatly decrease the odds of them getting pregnant.  On the other hand, it could alienate the soldiers from their leaders, decreasing their morale.

Right now, we have moved the slider over to the right a few notches.  But I must agree, both should do time for the crime of taking a soldier from the war.  This practice is nothing new for integrated armies.  Unless you wish that the general lose some troops on account of "Freedom", this measure must go through.

Perhaps, one could instead allow sex in the service; but force soldiers to use contraception in order to get the best of both worlds.  On the other hand, cheating could get really big, really fast.
