That's it, I just beat 18 other people in this pool with 2 bowl games yet to be played.  Nice job Iowa, I had my doubts about picking you, but you delivered :) .

I also dont think Barkley will be a great QB like USC has had in the past.  I dont think he will ever be a QB they can flat out give the ball to and say get me the win.

Personally Id like to see Matt Corp get another chance but that is just me.

Theyll probably recruit a better QB anyways as it would be appealing to a high school QB knowing that they have a legit chance at starting a place such as USC knowing that the QB situation there is uncertain at least imo Barkley cant say he has 100% security in his position.

He wont have the great OL next year and probably the year after.  Mcknight may go to the NFL next year and he is losing some key WRs this year.

"Like who? Texas and Alabama are in the National championship because they are the best teams in the country. Coaching, talent, speed, size whatever you want to put up against that they are better than them. USC was exposed this year, they didn't beat teams that were better than them. USC is young, I think Barkley could do great things but we will have to see. Pete Carrol is a great recruiter, and his classes show that."

Look at how the Boise State used the media to campaign for a better ranking. They complain that they can't schedule good teams and the BCS ignores them as they rack up wins in a weak conference. The media rewards them with a top 5 ranking.
Boise State was impressive in their bowl game, but what competition did they play against to get a top 5 ranking? Tulsa? A first game win against Oregon? Must be nice to play Cal Davis, New Mexico State, Utah State, Idaho....

Look at the schedules of the Pac 10, Big 10, Big 12, SEC. Getting through the respective conference schedules is a challenge in itself for any of these teams.
The pass or bye comes when one of these top teams rebuilds. USC and Ohio State. Both have young talent. Lot of potential. Niether team was that impressive on the field. Yet almost every sportscaster and poll had them in the top 15 after they lost. Eventually back to  the top 10.

If Texas loses, the argument can be made that that the best teams in the country are Florida and Alabama.

Just wait.  There will be a commercial that will air during the Bama and Teaxs game regarding the BCS and why we need a playoff system.  I also believe they will air it in Texas, Idaho, Utah and Ohio.  The commercial is attacking the President of BSC regarding the remark about how "not everyone can not play for the NC"  after he was asked about having two or more undefended teams like this pass year and why BSU, Ciny and TCU have been ignored.

Did you not watch the Boise game at all? Boise state is for real, as is TCU. Boise will be in contention for a national title, and theres no doubt in my mind about that. Don't blame them for people not wanting to play them. They even said they will go there, and no one accepted the offer. Next year their playing at Fedex field against Virginia Tech and against some other team that I forgot. When you play Boise, your in a fight with them.

As for Ohio State and USC, they beat teams like Iowa, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, LSU, or anyone thats not in the top tier of the league. USC had problems on defense this year and were very young. And it showed against experienced teams like Oregon and Stanford. Ohio State does have a sophomore QB there and many young players. They are still young, yet they make it far. USCs loss to washington, Barkley didn't even play due to injury. Aaron Corp isn't as good as Barkley(yet Corp beat Mater Dei in High school).

i heard something about congress passed a bill (HR 390) to have a Div 1 playoffs like the other divisions, the BCS will be no more (never liked it) The current college bowl system features a championship game between the two top teams in the BCS standings, based on two polls and six computer rankings. Eight other schools play in the Orange, Sugar, Fiesta and Rose bowls. Under the BCS, the champions of those six big conference have automatic bids, while other conferences don't. Those six conferences also receive far more money than the other conferences.  BCS is all about power and money and they dont like the fact that they might be losing there power and money. People want a playoff system like the other divisions, let them have it i say.

As i said above, there will be a commercial about doing away the BCS.  The BCS hire a PR consultant trying to tell people that a playoff system will never work and TV rates will suffer.

I look forward to seeing it.  (Hopefully) Without straying into a rule #, I will say that I will vote for anyone who runs on a platform of requiring a playoff in Div 1a football, regardless of what else they stand for.  Its that important to me.

Of course, most people know that only the "elite" football programs will actually suffer, most programs, even the majority of those in BCS conferences, will actually be helped by a playoff.  The bowls will make more money than ever, only the BCS people and around 10-15 football programs nationally will be hurt.  Time to break up this monopoly.

And yes, my affiliation is with a BCS conference school (namely Purdue, in the Big Ten).

Ohio State beat Iowa with a true freshman QB on his first start. And then they had to do it in overtime. They also lost to Purdue and USC. Barely escaped Navy. But oh I guess they deserve to be considered in the top 10 based on....?  And by the way, neither USC or Ohio State played Georgia Tech, LSU or Cinncinati this year. And Iowa dominated Arizona who beat USC.

I watched the Boise/TCU game. Boise is a good team. A national contender? Pleeze! Give any of the top twenty teams that schedule and see how they would do. Better than that take a third or fourth place team from the Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10, or SEC and let them play that schedule. Get serious!
And you contend they should have played for the National championship? Base on what? Their stellar wins over Cal Davis or Bowling Green? Oh.. no one wants to play Boise State because they are so tough? Yet mysteriously Florida, Texas, Ohio State, USC and Alabama manage to find games. Get real.

Ohio state is younger than Iowa, and they beat them in OT. And your saying Iowa is great? Iowa was loosing in almost every game they played this year going into the 4th quarter or 2nd half. They are more like the Carolina "Cardiac" cats from 04. If you want to call a 27-17 win domination of Arizona?

Boise State 43-42 #8 Oklahoma 2006
Boise State 19-8#10 Oregon 2009
Boise State 17-10 #3 TCU 2009
Boise State 32-17 #17 Oregon 2008
Boise State 61-10 #21 Fresno State 2009
Boise State 42-14 #22 Oregon State 2006
Boise State 34-31 #19 TCU 2004
Boise State 35-20 #8 Fresno State 2001

9 WAC titles
2 10 win seasons
5 12 win seasons
4 undefeated regular seasons
2 undefeated seasons
2 BCS Bowl game wins

132-29 in the decade.

Considering they came from D-1AA(FBS) in 1999 or 2000. They came a long way. Especially getting players to come to Idaho.
