I consider my system to be very bottom of the pile. It's old. It's slow but it plays AH with all the bells and whistles turned off except for "bump mapping" smoothly.

You can pick out the particulars from the DxDiagnostic text file:

My system is home built;

Mb: MSI P45 Platinum mother board

Cpu:amd AS7700 (?) Dual quadcore 2.8

Ram; 6gig of ram

Hard drives: dual 1 tb hard drives

Vid card; dual 9800 GTX + sli'd vid cards (512 meg per card internal memory)

Power supply: 850 watt power supply (I don't remember the name of the power supply but I have room for upgrades)

O5: windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.

This set up works great for the game and then some. The best computer I have had in a long time. But just look at what you can afford and go from there.

this link has the min requirements per AH.

http://www.hitechcreations.com/frindex.html

there's some people that will play with decent frame rates with computer that was 1/2 as fast as the one I replaced.  and yet mine couldnt keep up.  as for top of the line it depends on how much money you are willing to spend.  at least one guy here plays with 2 vc that cost 800 each (if i remember correctly).  if you are looking for a computer, post your budget in hardware and software, these guys will try to suggest the best puter for your money.

You don't have to build a super computer to play AH and play it well. Grab a solid Power supply, a dual core, and a decent video card. I would recommend gigabyte mother boards but I noticed MSI works well too. Most important thing is budget. Tell us what that is and we can make it work for you.

It seems like a bit of overkill everywhere except the vid card, where in my eyes it lacks a bit.

Do not buy a branded computer they're nothing but trouble. Get some small company to custom build one.

Packard Bell?  :O  Now I see (googled), uninformed Euro/Asia markets...and here I thought they went belly up back in the 90s...junk computers back then, the Daewoo of computers...probably hasn't changed much considering the market areas.

If you have the money and the sources, do what Ripley suggests...get a custom build...it's a much better investment.
