.50 BMG rifle on the way!
« on: January 06, 2010, 06:15:47 PM »

WOOOOT!!!

Just ordered it yesterday, it will take two to three months to build before they ship it my way, I asked him why so long and he said it was because of the election, everyone started freaking out... not going to elaborate on that... but anyway, here is a pic

It is the Rebel  made by East Ridge Arms, I ordered the 36 inch bull barrel with the 3 inch diameter muzzle brake instead of the 2 inch it comes with.

WOOT! I can't wait!

Just curious, does anyone else own one of these big babies? if so post pics  :) :)

When you decide to stand on your hind legs like a man and shoot it, please have it on film.......  :D

I suppose you are already picking up loading components for it. The price of ammo has gone through the roof for that caliber. Are slugs available for loading yet?
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I'd use it for zombies, or to shoot down alien UFOs.  :noid

GOML? How bout SHTF?

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

If your talking recoil, a 50 Cal BMG with a Jake brake has no more recoil than a .308, I cant speak for that brake though.

That thing will kick like a mule, i have a Browning BLR 308 which kicks like a 22 with mag loads and ive shot a military 50 cal semi auto out at the National Guard training center and the kick surprised me (big kick), i see no recoil pad on the stock to absorb the impact, Film your first shot and post it, its gonna kick, but its a nice gun for sure, i priced a Barrett 50 last year and it was for 9,895 dollars i just couldnt justify that kind of money, But i am looking at this S&W 500 Mag its looks so much like my 357 Mag that i just might have to get it lol

heres the Barrett i was refering to

A good brake will take the sting out that 50, I have seen 300 Ultra Mags that you could shoot with one finger.

I built this one to keep unwanted guests off my lawn.  I fire it standing up like a man, but I don't hang on to it...  Well, I did anyway, but I sold it.  It fires a 1" ball (or up to 8 .50 balls) and is 1/3 scale.  Weighs just over 80#.  Rolls back 3-4 feet when fired.

There's a fella' nearby with a rifle similar to what you're buying, and I know he's used it on deer.  I'm not sure how much of the deer he salvaged.  Pretty wasteful for that purpose, but we don't have many bad guys around to use it on either I suppose.

Anyone see the video of a .50 rifle round bouncing back and clipping the shooters ear protection off?

<Edit>  Here it is-  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbedChLg8oU&feature=related
